Thoughts of the past

Times You remember,
I got a phone call today here in France from an old employee who once worked for me,
He’d heard i’d been ill and decided to give me a call, it was while we we’re talking he recalled the old lady who’s settee & chair I"d been asked to clean,
It was a Saturday morning and i was in the office when the phone rang and Steve (the old employee) took the call, it was a lady who asked if it was possible to clean these two items this very morning as it was for her Mother who’d just lost her husband,
The daughter wanted to give her Mum a special treat and have these two items cleaned,
She went on to say that she took her mum every saturday to the local street market and then for a Luntch time snack, and could I please please please clean these items ???
How could i say No, We arranged to pick the keys up from next door and have the work done by 1pm, We both got to the house and every thing was going to plan, the settee was’nt to bad But the chair had long passed it’s regular cleaning time and infact needed an MOT As Steve pointed out it had a lot of grease stained marks on it “But” we managed to get it looking good and found a lots of hidden treasure’s down the sides and back of the items, (Always checked these places for combs/pennies/ sweets etc etc all things that got caught up in the cleaning machine)
This time we found an old driving licence, All these itmes had been put on the coffee table and as we we’re putting the cleaning machine/drying machine etc away , The daughter & Mother came home,
The Mother was not to pleased to find two males in her home and was about to call the police, Her Daughter was parking the car "but thank god appeared just it time to save us) She explained she’d arranged for us to clean the items,
I did say on the phone we’d be gone by the time they’d returned, But due to the one settee taking a lot longer to clean !!! Time had run out,
The Mother was still giving me that look and i did say i was sorry to upset her, she looked around the room and then the coffee table, she picked the drivers Licence up looked at it and started to cry,
We we’re asked by the daughter if we could leave and she’d settle with us later,
As it worked out the Mother and her husband had fallen out over the Licence going missing and he’d blamed the mother for the loss, And we’d brought back the memoury of that day.

Thoughts of the past you never really for get.

Have you got any&

Hello here. I haven’t been in the chat but only a few times. I was lonely one day and wanted to talk to someone. I hadn’t been in chats for years, and didn’t even know if they still exited. My husband has had health issues since 2019 and it’s hard sometimes to listen to the same complaints, and I can’t fix him. But, that is life, we won’t live forever. But today, I thought I would check in and when I read your post, I got to thinking, yes, what are some thoughts of the past. My mind drew a blank. Then I started to contemplate what thoughts of the past do people in general remember, things of happiness over things of sadness? But alas, for me, I do think there are more happy things I remember or would hope to remember. Then out of the blue I remember a time of happiness when I went to Australia to teach a class. One of my students from down there from a previous class invited me up to their place. I was in Melbourne at the time. So I got a ticket and took the train up into the country to a little town near McKenzie’s Falls up in the Grampians. Can’t remember the name of the town.Oh yes, Stawell. They had some land, a spread. They had a flat above their outer garage or such building which they rented out to friends and tourists from time to time. So that is where I stayed. My friends, were massage therapists so they had a massage office as well. But the part that stood out most for me was that they had some horses (I love horses) and we went riding out in the outback of their property and that is where I saw my first Kangaroo’s. They called them a mob. They ran right in front of us. Also in the evening hours when the sky was clear they pointed out the stars of the southern constellations which are very different from the northern hemisphere. The southern cross. The stars I remember were very bright. Thanks for the opportunity to share good thoughts of the past.

Oh how well I remember that day. Sue and I had just moved into our first house when we got married. That summer was hot enough to sit outside until late evening.
So I sat there for some considerable time, even when daylight was fading.
I watched it slowly getting darker and then the moon rising above the horizon lighting up the night sky. A really beautiful evening and when the stars started to shine as well as, unbelieveable.
So as I sat there for a very long time my thoughts turned to thinking about getting a roof on this outside toilet
