Times You remember,
I got a phone call today here in France from an old employee who once worked for me,
He’d heard i’d been ill and decided to give me a call, it was while we we’re talking he recalled the old lady who’s settee & chair I"d been asked to clean,
It was a Saturday morning and i was in the office when the phone rang and Steve (the old employee) took the call, it was a lady who asked if it was possible to clean these two items this very morning as it was for her Mother who’d just lost her husband,
The daughter wanted to give her Mum a special treat and have these two items cleaned,
She went on to say that she took her mum every saturday to the local street market and then for a Luntch time snack, and could I please please please clean these items ???
How could i say No, We arranged to pick the keys up from next door and have the work done by 1pm, We both got to the house and every thing was going to plan, the settee was’nt to bad But the chair had long passed it’s regular cleaning time and infact needed an MOT As Steve pointed out it had a lot of grease stained marks on it “But” we managed to get it looking good and found a lots of hidden treasure’s down the sides and back of the items, (Always checked these places for combs/pennies/ sweets etc etc all things that got caught up in the cleaning machine)
This time we found an old driving licence, All these itmes had been put on the coffee table and as we we’re putting the cleaning machine/drying machine etc away , The daughter & Mother came home,
The Mother was not to pleased to find two males in her home and was about to call the police, Her Daughter was parking the car "but thank god appeared just it time to save us) She explained she’d arranged for us to clean the items,
I did say on the phone we’d be gone by the time they’d returned, But due to the one settee taking a lot longer to clean !!! Time had run out,
The Mother was still giving me that look and i did say i was sorry to upset her, she looked around the room and then the coffee table, she picked the drivers Licence up looked at it and started to cry,
We we’re asked by the daughter if we could leave and she’d settle with us later,
As it worked out the Mother and her husband had fallen out over the Licence going missing and he’d blamed the mother for the loss, And we’d brought back the memoury of that day.
Thoughts of the past you never really for get.
Have you got any&
