I honestly thought Russ Abbott had died ages ago from a heart attack.
Apparently not:
Have you thought that someone was long gone, only to discover they’re still milling around somewhere? Or who died, but you thought they’d been dead for ages?

I used to love watching his TV shows back in the day.
As it happens, we’re going to see Les Dennis in Spring and Port Wine in Bolton next year.
Care to name anyone?
erm well, if you look up the obituary tag.

there’s a short list … I didn’t know any of them weren’t dead until I was told they are dead.
that probably makes me sound shallow or something.
Neither have I.
I never found either Russ Abbott or Les Dennis funny, and a few more i could add.
It does shock me when a celebrity has been dead a whole lot longer than i thought,ie,.Freddie Mercury has been dead over 30 years, what a legend he was.
Yes, the passage of time can be quite sobering. This reminds me of hearing of John Lennon’s death back in 1980 while I was at work.
Where do the years go?
Vert true Chilliboot,i can remember his death as if it was yesterday,42 years ago, blimey.
It makes you realise how you have to live for each day your given.
The deaths I can remember well, when they were announced.
Freddie Mercury.
Amy Winehouse.
Princess Diana.
Dodi Fayed.
George Michael.
Michael Jackson.
Sarah Harding.
Caroline Flack. and of course the Queen.
hearing a Portuguese girl in Lisbon tell me that George Harrison had died is my most memorable celeb death announcement … for a number or reasons, always liked George, I didn’t know it had been expected.
Once my cousins son thought my mum was dead, he was about 10
She didn’t see a lot of him but they were fond of each other and if she met him down the road, she’d give him a couple of bob for sweets
Well, so she was his great aunt and her own auntie, his great, great aunt, died
He must have heard about it and the funeral and he must have got mixed up and thought it was mum
She said when she bumped into him next his face was a picture! Shock, horror, disbelief and all he could say was “I thought you were dead!”
Then they both cracked up and got the giggles I think she gave him extra that time to make up for the disappointment!
Oops indeed!!
The most memorable notice of death of a famous person we had was when me and my sister were abroad on holiday in 2005.
My Sis received a brief text from her husband to let her know that her elderly goat, Bunty, had died - he didn’t bother with any pre-amble to prepare her for the bad news - his text read -
“Bunty is dead. So is Ronnie Barker.”
Both very sad pieces of news but the clumsy way it was presented made us laugh!
Took me a few seconds to work out why the goats’ name was Bunty.
last time I seen him was in an early series of heartbeat playin a music show conman?? russ abbott
Funny this should come up as a topic…I was chatting to my hubby the other day about someone and Hubby said he thought he was dead so we had this debate if he was or wasn’t dead and decided to look him up on Google when we got chance later…anyway we both forgot so when I saw this post I asked hubby…who was that person we thought might be dead we chatted about the other day?
Neither of us can remember…so funny…such is age.
Whoever it was…hope he isn’t dead
What happened to Ms Funny Fanny?
