A fabric shop near me has recently closed, and also key cutters? Where have they gone to now? I used Morrison’s last time, because the usual shop had closed down
P.S What is a Costermonger?
Fishmonger has gone in my town.
I also miss Woolworths.
We have a wool shop here,ST
Dictionary - a person who sells goods, especially fruit and vegetables, from a handcart in the street.

Ooh thank you! I want to be a Costermonger!

I just miss shops … any shops.
Around me the main street is full of chip shops, pizza parlours, burger joints, cafes … pubs … and more than a few now spill out onto the pavement with tables and chairs strewn everywhere and it’s a pain for grumpy pedestrians like me.
My high street is empty pretty much, apart from nail bars, charity shops, and hairdressers.
Quite depressing.
I was in Edinburgh yesterday and it was so refreshing to be walking along a normal street with normal shops!
This is it …it’s nice to browse and window shop.
Woolworths!
Ironmonger shops … I used to enjoy browsing around those.
Pay phones (phone box)

Coppers on the beat.
Traffic wardens, come to that…
Weigh & Save shops.
Big tubs of cereal, dried fruits etc and smaller tubs of herbs and spices where you could help yourself to large or small amounts.
I am quite glad they have gone. The ones we had could not be trusted - they put new stock in on top of old - children used to put their nasty sticky little fingers into the bins!
Treadle Sewing Machines…
Ooh No. There’s still plenty of them around here. ![]()
I remember when I was a child, in a nearby town there used to be those Fruit & Veg carts, Tabby.
I also remember there was one that sold horse meat!
That used to turn my stomach, even as a little kid.
In our little village even the banks and building socities have gone.
Yes. I can still remember my Mum’s old ‘Singer’ treadle machine, Mags.
I think they were black and gold coloured, weren’t they?
