Ooh Jazzi, that doesn’t sound good.
Let’s hope in the morning you will find it’s not as bad as it sounded.
Are you a semi? Could it have been from next door’s property perhaps?
Oh Jazzi
Hope everything is ok x
Thanks all. I hope so as well. I can’t get inside the cupboard where the loft hatch is (several tables beside my bed where the cupboard is) but managed to open the door a fraction and shine a torch inside. The hatch looks secure. I have been seeing photos on Twitter where their loft hatches have suddenly lifted, scaring the pants off them all. Wondered if that was the case here. I will just have to wait till the morning then look up to the roof when I can. Keeping fingers and toes crossed it was elsewhere…whatever IT was.
Thanks Rhian, it is finally getting quieter at last. It’s been a bad day.
Have you been OK where you are?
Because the sound came from the left of me, it was them I asked, but they had also gone out to look.
Oh well, I guess there’s not a lot you can do till daylight, and have a good look around then.
Best of luck Jazzi.
They try and blame everything on climate change - it’s pathetic. Storms have been raging on this planet for hundreds of years without man’s help.
I note, too, that wind turbines can’t operate in these conditions - fat lot of good they are.
I agree with you about them blaming climate change.
One of these big turbines was blown over in Wales, Judd.
Our local weather says we are due to cop it again Sunday morning until Monday morning, but not quite so severe as it has been today.
I blame Michael Fish. Every time he puts in an appearance, storms happen.
Twenty million quid gone in the blink of an eye.
Twenty million quid gone in the blink of an eye.
Blimey, I never dreamed they cost anything like that!

If someone threw nails under your tyres, and in response to your protests said, well people have always had punctures, would you be happy to let it go at that?

we haven’t usually had them back to back though the way we do these days…
The neighbours fence toppled over, their other neighbour helped put it back up. Our fence was affected, a couple of joists split but it didn’t fall. Can see several spaces where fence panels have been knocked out over a number of gardens. Will mean more £££s to fix eventually Some trees over locally, not too many not like 1987, but still pretty scary compared with recent storms. This was a pretty severe storm. We are fairly safe-ish because of position etc, but having to fix the fence is annoying. However, lots of people far worse off. Having a tree land on your car is a bit of a downer.
Hi
What a bunch of Wimps we have become.
Vast areas of the World cope with weather far worse than this and carry on without a whisper.
You can still travel on the roads, the trains still run, no power outages.
Poland, Eastern Europe, cope with the ice and snow every year.
The Tropics cope with the Monsoon every year.
An inch of snow here is a huge problem, in Poland they do not even notice it, life goes on, no traffic is cancelled.
These are poor Countries, yet they cope far better than we do.
We have a lot to learn.
Snow may be nothing but floods are a very big deal in Poland. We aren’t prepared for extreme weather because it hardly ever used to happen.
We got away with only a few large twigs off the oak trees and no damage at all. We can have bright sunshine yet all around have heavy rain as if we have a mini temperate climate different to that around us. Supposted to be down to where we are on the South coast and the way the land lies. Maybe why we didn’t get the storm problems that others had, Even the wind didn’t blow as hard as shown on the TV but yes it was windy
