There are so many not nice people in this world

Foxy, did you feel you were being “Breathed On” by the establishment :icon_wink:

I can only speak for what I think I know NCS, and that’s what happened here in the UK.
As Win rightly points out, a lot of deaths here were also attributed to covid instead of Pneumonia and Influenza among other things.
Although I’m not sure how covid started (I do have my suspicions) but we have made perfect conditions for the virus to flourish, by living in close proximity to each other, and although I’ve only ever seen pictures of large cities in countries like Mexico and Brazil, a lot of the densely populated areas have people living on top of each other.
I would imagine that viruses spread like wild fire in such places, and in some countries that never really experience flu and other winter diseases, would have been taken by surprise as opposed to a country like the UK who suffer these sort of viruses every year.
Without knowing the mortality figures for other countries, it’s impossible to make a comparison, or why some were hit harder than others.
My problem with the vaccine wasn’t the fact that I thought it was no good, my problem was, what long term damage would be caused by the vaccine.
Heart attacks and strokes, especially in younger people’ seem to have increased since the epidemic, and it was no surprise to see a defibrillator suddenly appear on every street corner…It just makes you think…Do they know something they’re not telling us?

And the recent TV ads for “New Updated” Covid vaccines have a new warning about serious heart issues like Myocarditis.

We have always had our Covid shots …until the last one. We were too ill in other ways to go and get it done. We both got Covid and I certainly still feel washed out and not right because of it. Mrs mart is in hospital, admittedly with a different illness but the Covid isn’t helping her recovery. She is very weak. The last test I did there was barely a trace of the infection left. I did my isolation and would say I’m not infectious now… but I still wear a mask at times out of consideration to others.

The case for vaccination can be argued one way or the other ad-infinitum (as happens every year) but me and Mrs mart both wish we’d had this season’s booster jab.

Having any medication or vaccine is, and should be, a personal preference Mart, and I would never recommend anyone not to have any meds or vaccines.
I do wonder though, that all the previous injections have not helped in this recent infection.
One of the reasons I haven’t had any covid or flu vaccines is because I read that they can lower your resistance to other infections.

There have always been comparisons between “today and yesteryear”, it’s a generational thing. What I’ve always found, when looking at the present / past, people/ wars/ violence/ good/ bad never really change, it’s just that there are so many people today, we seem to meet the “goods and bads” in bunches. It’s not so different from yesteryear, especially for me, I’m an introvert, so when you go into a bar, I’m the guy sitting at the far end by himself, quietly drinking my coffee and whisky alone.

I wouldn’t tell anyone not to get a vaccine either. Telling someone why I won’t is not telling them not to. And I usually don’t say anything unless I’m asked why I won’t.
That applies to Covid, Flu & Shingles vaccines. Or any of the “New & Improved” vaccines being advertised now.

Coffee and whisky have it’s origins dating back to the 15th century. Coffee was first cultivated in Ethiopia, while whisky originated in Scotland and Ireland . There is a difference between what I drink (plain black coffee and Irish whisky, Tullamore Dew) and what is called an “Irish Coffee” (whose origin dates to the 1940s in Ireland), which has Irish whisky and anything from cream / whip cream, nutmeg, and Irish cream liqueur. I am also fond of Brandy and / or Cognac mixed with my coffee, but prefer Tullamore Dew. I enjoy my freedom as well, and I think Newsom will be the best candidate since Obama left office.

Not in our case Bob. Of that I am quite sure. Our underlying conditions go back many years during which time we have adapted, come to terms with, coped with and led as normal a life as possible. I believe we have made a good job of that.

What I do think is that age catches up with a person. Along with that, any underlying conditions that have been present for years, are more likely to come to the fore. We have the unshakeable belief that all the medical care we have received over the years (including all the Flu and Covid vaccinations) have been a big help in staving off, rather than adding to, the problems we are currently experiencing.

There have been a couple shingle vaccines since 2005/ 06, both of which were recommended I take, which I did. The first was Zostavax which I took around 2009 which was a single shot, then when SHINGRIX came on the market around 2017/ 18 it was recommended because it supposedly offered a higher rate of protection, and that was 2 shots. I’ve been fortunate and have never had shingles but have known many who have, and ironically one of those had taken the SHINGRIX shot, but it was a mild case. I’ve had every covid shot, and have had covid and pneumonia (bad lungs) every year (sometimes twice a year) but haven’t had the flu since before the covid pandemic (I take the flu shot every year with covid).
