The term “vegan” was coined in Leicester in 1944 and changing the name would be a “great way” to celebrate the city’s “pie-loving heritage”.
The roundabout in south Leicester gets its name from a nearby library which is said to look like a pork pie when viewed from above.
PETA’s senior campaigns manager, Kate Werner, wrote: "This is not a pie-in-the-sky request. Eating a varied plant-based diet has been shown to prevent heart disease, diabetes, abdominal fat, and cancer.
This is quite an amusing story…it’s a bit of a mouthful though…it doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue!
Whatever next, no more pork pie hats?

What puzzles me though…is how on earth you can view the roundabout as a pork pie, when you are driving around it. if you are in the air, there is something very very wrong!
Well Swimmy, we don’t have to listen to them really, do we? I mean, I’m sure the locals will always call it the Pork Pie roundabout, no matter what others try to tell them.
After the Pork-Pie roundabout gets its healthy new name, how about re-naming Spaghetti Junction to the new trendy lower carb alternative of Courgette Spirals - Courgetti Junction !
