The "Vegan Pie" Roundabout

The term “vegan” was coined in Leicester in 1944 and changing the name would be a “great way” to celebrate the city’s “pie-loving heritage”.

The roundabout in south Leicester gets its name from a nearby library which is said to look like a pork pie when viewed from above.

PETA’s senior campaigns manager, Kate Werner, wrote: "This is not a pie-in-the-sky request. Eating a varied plant-based diet has been shown to prevent heart disease, diabetes, abdominal fat, and cancer.

  • This is quite an amusing story…it’s a bit of a mouthful though…it doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue!

Good grief!

Whatever next, no more pork pie hats?
All those people on the ska music scene dropping like flies because their titfers have encouraged them to eat naughty foods :rofl:

Think the words to the “This little piggy” rhyme ought to be amended

Deleted…terrible even by my own low standards!!

What puzzles me though…is how on earth you can view the roundabout as a pork pie, when you are driving around it. if you are in the air, there is something very very wrong!

Looking at piccies of it, there’s nothing to suggest that it is a pork pie. It’s just a roundabout.

I think the name is derived from this (a whole pie):

And this (the pieces):

Hi

I am getting somewhat fed up with being lectured by extremists like these

I don’t have a problem with veggies.

Well Swimmy, we don’t have to listen to them really, do we? I mean, I’m sure the locals will always call it the Pork Pie roundabout, no matter what others try to tell them. :+1:

It’s about time Sky News were exposed for what they really are.

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

After the Pork-Pie roundabout gets its healthy new name, how about re-naming Spaghetti Junction to the new trendy lower carb alternative of Courgette Spirals - Courgetti Junction !

:rofl::rofl:
