With the hardcore leaders of Iran already complaining about the proposed talks and an Iranian spokesperson saying that Iranian culture does not follow normal logical human thinking (BBC NEWS), after the war is over, is a song we sang in WW2.
It has ended?
Is someone else funding it then?
You think this is going to carry on after Mr T leaves office?
That’s about the only sensible thing you’ve said.
Well, Trump has reached a point where his claimed goals were directly at odds with his proposed military tactics. He claimed, and lots who support this war were very keen to endorse, that one aim was to free the people of Iran from this brutal regime. But then he stated that he would destroy the entire civilisation of Iran if the Straits were not opened. I guess wiping 90 million people off the face of the earth is one way to free them from tyranny. So this clear conflict of objectives and tactics could not ever be logically explained or justified.
In addition Trump was under two huge domestic challenges. There was a very significant push from his own supporters against this war. They thought Trump’s election commitment to not start a new war was important (Trump didn’t of course). They could already see the impact on daily costs. And they worried a lot about US loss of lives if a ground war was begun. Supporters and commentators on the right were increasingly against this war. On top of that, his own rating were in the gutter and the mid-terms are not far away. Trump was desperate for a quick exit route from this self-inflicted sh*t show.
It is clear that Iran can see that desperation in Trump - even his language and mixed messages have been that of a desperate man. On top of that, they hold the aces with their control over Hormuz. The icing on their cake is that the Trump / Israel next steps looked a lot like planning for war crimes. Trump has gifted Iran the moral advantage. Let us consider that for a moment - because of Trump’s actions and threats, he has given a truly despicable regime a moral advantage over the aggressor, the US. This shows the limited awareness that Trump possesses.
Which leaves only two questions …
-
Has he done enough to wriggle out of this without appearing a total prat to the rest of the world. Too late for damage limitation? Afterall the damage is done. The US has a tarnished reputation now.
-
Will he be an even stupidier idiot than he has so far proven himself to be … and kick off again and resume the blustering bellicose threats against Iran.
Oh, we have a third option … Cuba, Here comes Trump!
Could be worse, the UK could have to defend the Isle of Wight from invasion by the Isle of Man, and I do not fancy our chances.
What he has done with a small fraction of his armed forces and defence budget, is shown Europe and the rest of the world, just what a useless entity they really are.
Well this was the 10 point plan that the orange turd has meant to have agreed to:
The 10-point plan for the conditional ceasefire, according to Iran
00:20
Here is the 10-point plan, according to an Iranian state broadcaster:
- Complete cessation of the war on Iraq, Lebanon, and Yemen
- Complete and permanent cessation of the war on Iran with no time limit
- Ending all conflicts in the region in their entirety
- Reopening the Strait of Hormuz
- Establishing a protocol and conditions to ensure freedom and security of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz
- Full payment of compensation for reconstruction costs to Iran
- Full commitment to lifting sanctions on Iran
- Release of Iranian funds and frozen assets held by the United States
- Iran fully commits to not seeking possession of any nuclear weapons
- Immediate ceasefire takes effect on all fronts immediately upon approval of the above conditions
In which case Trump has conceded defeat. I doubt he and satanyaho keep their word tho - they can’t be trusted!!
Clearly posted by a man with a big chip on his sholder.
D’you think? He wanted regime change. He hasn’t got it.
He wanted to ‘save’ Iranian civilians … he hasn’t done it.
They called his bluff. It really is that simple.
And his final threat which would have resulted in the US committing war crimes … was, in the end, just a little bit too far even for him, the madman.
He’s destroyed America’s credibility … alienated any usual allies and spend about 30 billion dollars faffing about.
Oh, and there’s probably going to be a film about daringly rescuing a US airman … who has already been compared to Christ.
Now , Nettiyahoo … he is the real winner who is achieving his objective, killing innocent people in Lebanon.
The ceasefire doesn’t apply to him.
Don’t sulk … it’s unbecoming. Drag your chin off your keyboard.
I can see a few points on that list that are going to be stumbling blocks.
What’s this ceasefire for? Two days?
I shan’t hold my breath even though I see Hegseth is already bragging it’s a big V for Victory for the US.
The real reason is Trump cannot make Iran cave- in without having to nearly obliterate them (if then), and even his psycho-MAGA nuts cannot/ will not endorse that, but his Corporate nuts would. Apparently, they (MAGA) draw a line @ killing innocent children, but , violating them is a totally different story.
I imagine it is just that. USA lost 13 personnel and a few old planes. Iran near decimated or they will be when they stupid enough to get of the bridges.
Anyway, dispite pain and disability, this is my busy time of the year. Nice to see the seeds planted a week or so ago are up 4 inches.
What! Is he a peodofile now?
If you do not already know, you have just pointed out, despite all your posts, you’re the most uninformed member on this thread (if not in the world), but then again, that does not suprise me.
