Well said, Realist.
And I love your screen name announcing how true all of it really is.
I have read many theories regarding death.
The one I like and also have a little fear of is:
What ever you believe will happen when you leave your body . . . does happen.
When I read all the writings of disbelief in the “hereafter,” I get the willies for them.
Seems they will be having a blank time of it.
Thanks Mlee,it good to meet other believers .
Oh boy. We have a thread called “Super-natural”.
But only true believers are permitted to express an opinion.
That sounds fair … lol
Look, I believed in this stuff well into my twenties.
Been to more seances and seen more “unexplainables” than you can poke a stick at.
But I grew up.
We humans can convince ourselves of anything - and you mix that with a large dose of wishful thinking about a hereafter and otherwise smart people seem incapable of facing reality.
Not a tiny tad of demonstrable evidence exists.
Not a skerrick.
Only delusion and illusion and over-worked imagination.
If anyone thinks otherwise, I will happily examine their evidence …
not tall tales about “some spook I saw umpteen years ago” though.
And as with so many things no proof they don’t/can’t exist either but some who don’t believe think they are always right.
I have to say I think exactly the same Mlee, that whatever you believe will happen when you leave your body WILL happen.
I have my own thoughts on what will happen and where I will go when I die ,im not afraid of dying one little bit ,I am afraid of the manner in which I die though.
It is up to the person postulating a theory to prove their case.
We cannot prove a negative.
If I say that Kennedy was killed by an assassin from planet Pluto,
it is up to me to show why that is so.
It is silly for me to simply say “you prove I’m wrong”.
You can’t.
But that doesn’t make the proposition more believable.
All you’ve done with that post is prove that you, personally, have closed your mind to the possibility that anything that can’t be quantified can exist.
Not everyone thinks that … a great many simply acknowledge that they don’t know and so keep an open mind.
See above. lol
Good grief! I’m so glad I’ve been avoiding this thread!
Why so, Tessa ?
You might have some valuable insight we’d all love to hear.
Yawn!!! Go away Pummy zzzz!
I did …lol, to you too.
In any discussion, any opposing view is just an opposing view.
Once anyone takes it upon themselves to categorically state what another says is bunkum and that their view is the definitive, correct view … the onus is on them to cite proof to back their claim up.
It works both ways.
Got loads of material I could have put in, as I have in days of yore but, not getting involved!
Nopey. If I reckon Kennedy was killed by an assassin from Planet Pluto, it is up to me to produce the goods.
Otherwise, people are quite entitled to yell “bunkum” !
Likewise, if people make all sorts of wild claims about spooks and the supernatural, they should be able to show even a tiny tad of evidence.
Otherwise one is quite entitled to call “bunkum”. Nicely of course.
Ah … so this is how it works.
If I say you talk a load of bunkum … I need to provide the evidence?
To which I tell everyone to read back over your posts?
Yeh. :-p
THAT is not what I said … but enough, already.
How can Anyone show evidence or proof of something that happened to Them which They and They alone were the only Ones to experience?..I’m sure those who have experienced anything which They deemed to be supernatural don’t really give a fig if no-one believes Them…They saw/felt it,and that’s all that matters to Them I would think.
Didn’t you know May, Pummy thinks you should ask the ghost if you could take a picture so you have proof LOL!!!
What a load of hollyhocks LOL!!
Its like when i saw the lady who dissapeared right before my eyes. Should i have shouted out to her OYE!! Don’t go yet i just wanna run home and get me camera? Pummy how on earth can someone in that sort of case get proof?
