The Father- excellent film

Just finished watching The Father with Anthony Hopkins, oh my goodness, Anthony is such an excellent actor, he really pulled off this part (as he always does) and had me totally convinced he was the character. Had me bawling my eyes out as it reminded me so much of when I was caring for a lady with dementia for the last 2 years of her life.

Alzheimers/Dementia is such a cruel disease.

If you’ve seen it, the part that got me is when he said ‘I feel like I’m losing my leaves’ oooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I’m filling up again.

The man is a genius! Well done Anthony!

It was sad and confusing too .

I have seen many of Anthony Hopkins’ films, all of them left me thinking of it for months afterwards. Remains of the Day is one of my favorites.
I will definitely watch this film soon!

So glad you gave a good review, LQ. Now, mop up those tears and get a glass of wine!

Yes I have to admit I was having trouble keeping up with it in the beginning then you realise that we are seeing it through his eyes, his total confusion. It doesnt bear thinking about how horrible it must be.

As well as being a personal carer to Christine I also worked in a care home before that. I remember there was a lady who was totally confused about where she was, sometimes when she was lucid she used to shout this is not my home, it was heartbreaking

A very good review but heartbreakingly sad. Now where is that wine

Is this on Netflix @LionQueen? I’d like to watch it.

I admire Hopkins hugely, but I’m not going to see this film.
I’m just not brave like you!

Same here.

I do ‘enjoy’ a weepie but this is too close to home.

My thoughts exactly Carol
