The Dubliners -7 Drunken Nights

I went to see this at our local theatre with my mate, it was good

It was happy hour at the pub opposite before we went in, though, so we did have a couple of cocktails which probably helped us sing along :tropical_drink::tropical_drink::tropical_drink:

Any Dubliners fans here?

Yeah, I was definitely into their music with the late great Ronnie Drew their main attraction for me👍

You’d both like this show then, if it comes round your way. The lead actor Ged Graham doing the narrating and singing was very good and very like him

I completely disagree with you on that one. To me he murders well establish Irish songs with his obvious Americanised accent :point_down: He should keep to Country & Weston music/songs.

Oh, I’m sorry you don’t like him. You wouldn’t enjoy the show then, it’s mostly him!

I enjoyed him though, he was a fun performer and I don’t notice an American accent, more a very strong Irish one

He was born in Dublin and lives in Manchester doesn’t he?

I’ve watched those videos and he does turn on his Irish accent a bit more in the show!

I hope you love and it gives you some Christmas magic xxx

i think it was Ronnie who worked for the Irish Phone company back in the days when they had to book any phone calls to England in advance, anyway he was on nights when a rather posh lady came on asking to be put thru to an English number, Ronnie explained that these calls had to be booked in advance, but she insisted that the lines couldnt be too buzy at that time of night, he explained that that had nothing to do with it the rules stated that they had to be booked, she was getting really annoyed and said surely exceptions could be made but Ronnie stuck to his guns then finally the lady said 'do you have any idea who i am?.. i am the wife of the director general of the Irish Telephon Company. so Ronnie asked her :an do you have any idea who i am, …the lady said no i dont… good said Ronnie well fec off, and hung up on her…

Love it :rofl::rofl::rofl:

I was introduced to the Dubliners by my landlady when I was in my late teens/early twenties in the mid seventies. I remember being awe inspired by two fellas playing a guitar and violin together. One strummed the strings of the guitar and worked the fingerboard of the fiddle, whilst the other bowed the fiddle and worked the fingerboard of the guitar. 'Twas fantasmagorical to behold.
