The brewery that produced the best beer in the world is closing down

Tasmanian brewery - Boags - will bottle its last brew in November this year.
Founded in 1881, at Launceston, it utilised the pristine water of the North Esk River, it was Tasmania’s premium beer for the whole of its 145 years history.
Southern Tasmanian brewery - Cascades - was a very poor second choice. (my opinion)
I was bought up on Boags, look how I turned out. :slightly_smiling_face:

So now you will have to find another brewery that still can get you pissed as a newt  :101:

Just wondering why a brewery producing the best beer in the world is closing down? Is it because customers don’t realize?

Closing for a combination of reduced beer consumption, higher costs plus shipping costs of $1.5 million yearly. (Tasmania being a small island)

I’m going to be awkward and suggest that’s no way the best beer in the world!!! Subjective of course,we all have different likes and tastes. I don’t know the reason for the closure but The Scottish brewery BrewDog springs to mind. Decent beer but went into administration due to mismanagement I believe, at least from what I’ve read.

It’s still available as it wasn’t entirely liquidated but bought by another company.
A quick edit, Bret’s just posted the reason for closure!:+1:

Can’t stand drinking beer out of a can - Stubbies for me.

Newky Brown is an old favourite. I bought some bottles from Tesco recently, and it still tastes like it’s supposed to. I think that means it’s one of the last of the big independents.

Not a Multinational Giant Ripoff yet.
