The 2011/2012 Football Season - Fans Thread

Yes Annie, a very good result for the Blues, now it really will go down to the wire but City must be favourites because of a superior goal difference. Just 2 more matches each to play.
I see my favourites did it again lol, a 1-0 home defeat against Fulham with Martin Skirtel scoring an own goal.

I was suprised to hear it was the FA cup. Wasnt it exciting in the "olddays"men got the drink in and everyone sat in front of the TV from about 11-30 on Saturday morning waiting for it and to see the people walking down theee road that had those arches at the end.IIt was fabulous.Any way you wont be too chuffed about the result BobI wanted liverpool to win. I saw JT being interviewed and was suprised that he isnt as awful as I thought.Hope that man gets the job now.

Sorry Bob I meant Roberto De Mateo,I hope he gets the job as manager full time but you never know, next season is another day.

It was an inept performance from Liverpool in the first half Annie but they did improve after the introduction of Andy Carroll in the second half when losing 0-2, of course he scored a goal which signalled as a wake up call for the reds, then he had another effort disallowed by referee Phil Dowd, another clear case for goal line technology to be implemented, my personal view as a Liverpool fan was that the referee and his assistant were right although the arguments will go on for years to come.
I do agree with you Annie about Roberto Di Matteo, he has really earned the job on a permanent basis but who knows with the Abramovich mind set? All will be revealed soon I would hope, good luck to the Blues when they play in Munich.

Finally, let’s mention West Ham, a very professional victory at Cardiff to take a 2-0 lead into the second leg to be played at Upton Park, tomorrow at 4.30pm, surely they wont freeze at home again? Wembley beckons!

Agree Bob about Liverpool’s first half performance, they were dire. Some company has developed a chip inside the ball, that goes bleep when crossing the goal line. Surely something must be done sooner rather than later.Looks like Fergie will have to settle for second, by gum, that must hurt! Yes, the Hammers look good for the playoff final, but at home they have been dodgy. Talking of West Ham, where is the old bugger hiding? Come on Hammer, time to get the old rattle out!

Shame about Liverpools result, OH said they should have put Andy Carroll on earlier. Shame about the disallowed goal, that must have really hurt the fans.
It will be awful if Matteo, doesn’t get the job. I think the fans will be upset.

I am keeping all my fingers crossed for next weeks result. Being a Blue, we have never took anything for granted. It would be nice to take the smile off Fergie face.

John, I get the feeling that Hammer is waiting until after today’s match before pinching himself to make sure they really have reached the play off final at Wembley then we shall hear from him hopefully extolling the virtues of Big Sam and his boys

Shaz, I feel sure that the title is destined for the Etihad Stadium now, can’t see QPR causing an upset next Sunday and Sunderland away wont be that easy for United plus if it does go down to goal differences then City are home and dry!

Yes, it’s me again! Still no sign of Hammer, hope he is all right and not under the weather at all. Come on Hammer, let’s be having you.

Can’t close without mentioning Liverpool’s 4-1 league win over Chelsea, what a shame they didn’t do the job at Wembley :frowning: still a good victory and sure feels good. Hope to hear from Hammer (or somebody) pretty soon.

Bob, Hammer’s probably just taking a little time out, as we all do from time to time. Probably he’s up in Blackpool, sussing out what Olly is up to! You must be well mystified with the 4-1 against Chelsea, after the Wembley game, some things never make sense. Can’t wait for the title to be resolved, or the final relegation to be sorted, its certainly been one helluva season.

Yes John, some season indeed! In a strange way I will be sorry to see it all end, such a lot of twists and turns along the way plus the end is still set to be a nail biting affair and not only in Manchester!
You could be right about our Hammer, maybe he is compiling a dossier on Olly and his merry men so he will be able to supply Sam with a few good tips  I sincerely hope that he is all right, miss his contribution.

Well i hope all your teams had a decent season , and you all enjoyed yourselves . i`m sorry to say my team will be playing in the 3rd tier (league one) next season . But to be honest i think thats where we belong ( to much messing about , with so called class players) this season , my opinion , has beens . Never mind there is always next season .

Hi dabbby, always someone worse off ! At least you managed to feast your eyes on the world class El Hadj Diouf, what a strange temperament that geyser has, always seems to be at odds with the world, along with players like Joey Barton (another red card today!), I wish Donny all the best next season anyway.
Personally I am glad the season has come to a close, my favourites managed to come up with another defeat, this time at Swansea, I think the break will do us all a power of good lol.
Now over to Shaz, well they did it at last but kept you all on the edge of your seats yet again! Congrats to the Blues, maybe they are starting on a run of their own, certainly geared up for European combat next season.
To all our football contributors, keep up the good work and hopefully the game between West Ham and Blackpool turns out to be real cracker.
Finally a note to Annie, I see Mr Wenger has got the Gooners into Europe yet again! Good luck everyone.

That was some weekend! I don’t think Hollywood could have scripted it any better. City’s last minute winner was terrific. Fergie’s emotions were up one minute, then down the next. Felt very sorry for Bolton. No way was that first goal not a foul on the goalkeeper, and how the hell can you keep your feet out of the way, when that great big stick insect Crouch goes tumbling down. If QPR had any sense, they’d get rid of that headbanger Barton, be interesting what punishment he receives.Well done Shaz, hope the hangover is not a bad one. Bob, what can I say? Heads are rolling at Anfield, how long will the yanks give Kenny?, he’ll have to do much better next season. Gainsborough failed yesterday to get promotion to Lincolns league, which was a shame, as another local derby would have been nice. Finally the big one. Will the Boleyn get the chop at the Tower? Thats the Blackpool one by the way! Good luck to Der Hammer, see you in the premiership!

Certainly seems that we are in for a pretty riveting game John and if Blackpool adopt their cavalier approach to the big occasion then I imagine that we wont be short of goals from either side, may the best team win and hopefully without controversy.
If you are looking in George, the very best of luck to your lads.

Have I missed something! Is Hammer not here, come to think of it havent seen him about recently, but that just could be me.

It was exciting yesterday, being a Mancunian I wasnt bothered which Manteam won and after all my Dads team did it.seem to have lost the joy I used to feel for Football, put it down to old age and the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing. Will try and get some vavavoom for next season.

Good old Annie, ‘That’s the way to do it!’ and your mate Arsene will be busy in Europe again next season while I have to put up with Liverpool in the lower echelons of the Europa League, ah well, one never knows, we may do well de da de da de da.
Come on Hammer, give us a shout!

Hope you are not ill Hammer, Annie.

Went into Manchester with the family to cheer our team on. Great being part of the crowd. Granddaughters loved seeing the team with the cup.
I have got to say they know how to put us fans through it. I had my head in my hands, close to tears at one point. I could not believe we got both them goal in extra time.
I took some photo’s, but they were not that good had camera in one hand and a granddaughter in the other. Don’t know how to put them on a post. But have put them in album.

A great season of football, ups and downs all round, now for a good season of Internationals under Roy Hodgson.
I see he has recruited Garry Neville for his skills as a coach I believe after seeing him give good tactical discussions on the TV.
Must admit I have been impressed with his skills, much better than Andy Gray.
