The weekends fixtures for those who may be interested.
Sunderland V Liverpool
West Ham V Doncaster
Lincoln City V Alfreton
East Fife V Cowdenbeath
All games take place this Saturday, kick-off 3:00pm
Arsenal V Newcastle is on Monday, kick-off 8:00pm
Good luck to all our teams, except mine who are playing the next to bottom club at the Boleyn and those two facts alone require a miracle not luck.
If you are still carrying your bonce round the castle Mistress Boleyn we need a break.
One of your favourite players is going to be on parade at the Boleyn Hammer, namely the evil demented El Haj Diouf so watch out for some likely unpleasant incidents.
I think my favourites will be grateful to snatch a draw at the Stadium of Light, given the recent run of results by both sides and Lincoln at home against the recently free scoring Alfreton Town is certainly a hard one to call. East Fife v Cowdenbeath? Jim, is it going to be a draw?
Good luck everyone, Annie you will have to wait until Monday evening to see how Wengers wonders get on
Sadly Liverpoolâs form in the league did not improve as they lost out to a rather bizarre only goal from a resolute Sunderland. The first half seemed to me one of those game where nothing got going and just sort of meandered to the interval. Pressure from Sunderland saw the black cats take the lead and then close up shop. One has to say from a purist point of view that their positional play dominated proceedings and did the job as ugly as it was.The Reds still seemed to be suffering a hangover from the Carling Cup Final.
As for us, I am still in mourning for the grievious loss of football as we knew it. A good mate of mine who went to the match, rang last evening to relate the tale of woe. I had to stop him about half time as we were both in tears.
Many epithets of our current Allardycian style of âplayâ spring to mind but perhaps the cleanest and most acceptable would be, pitiable vacillation, or Crap if you prefer.
Alfreton visited Lincoln and managed their third away win of the season.
The Imps seemed to be in control but the visitors took the lead when midfielder Jake Moult found the back of the net.The home side pushed to get back on level terms but it was not to be.I would think manager David Holdsworth will be giving a few the hairdryer treatment for a while.
A goal from Marc McKenzie just before half-time gave Cowdenbeath the points East Fife. The home side should have given the league leaders more trouble but wasted efforts early on. The Blue Brazil saw out the game with ease to extend their unbeaten run to eight matches.
Our lot go from bad to worse. Calls for Holdsworth to go, falling attendances (including yours truly), club in financial straits, 3 points from relegation to Non League, not much to say positively, apart from if they do go down, local derbies against Gainsborough and Boston await. Saw the lunchtime game Middlesborough against Leeds, good result for Warnock. Could be a good bet for the Playoffs, Leeds. Hammer, you know what youâre going to get with Allardyce, the usual biff boff, with very little subtlety.Just get rid of the bugger when you get back to the Premier League, then give Jose a bell!
Liverpool carry on stumbling their way through the season and quite frankly the defeat at Sunderland, although by such a strange goal, came as no surprise and now they have the prospect of a Merseyside derby on Tuesday against an Everton side enjoying a decent run so the fact that the match is at Anfield means nothing.
How times change John, not so long ago the prospect of an Alfreton Town victory at Lincoln would be unthinkable, I do hope that they donât get relegated.
So many clubs in financial difficulties this season including the so called Scottish giants Rangers, seems to be spiralling out of control.
I must admit that I was very surprised to see Doncaster nicking a point from West Ham, as we so often say, funny old game!
Good news for you Jim as Cowdenbeath collected another handy win, they are really having a decent season, well done.
Not a completely dismal weekend as our rugby lads did us proud by beating the froggies in their own back yard.
All the more satisfying as it was despite the help of the referee, the ultra bias of Eddie Butler and the snivelling, whining Jonathan Davies who can curdle milk at 50 paces.
Surely there are enough good commentators about without being subjected to the Butler drone every time we play.
Where is dear old Nigel Starmer Smith?
Not showing your own bias are you George? Not arf.
Swing low sweet chariot.
The FA Cup game between Spurs and Bolton was rightly abandoned tonight after the Bolton midfielder Fabrice Muamba, just seemed to collapse on the field.
He was rushed to hospital and as far as I can ascertain he is stable and breathing again.
Football and especially the players come in for an awful lot of stick these days, often justified but sadly invariably by those who know nothing of the game.
Tonight I was proud of everyone at the lane for the way the family of football came together.
My very best wishes and hopes for a full recovery go to Fabrice and his family.
I saw this on the news Hammer
Fabrice seems to be a very talented young man with a great future ahead of him.
He is also an excellent role model for other young people having come to this country not speaking a word of English. He has clearly worked very hard to succeed in both sport and his academic education .
I wish him a speedy recoveryâŠ
Itâs times like this that really do show how the footballing fraternity in this country can come together during such a tragic happening and to see both sets of fans applauding sympathetically as young Fabrice was stretchered off ready to be whisked to hospital was in itself a most humbling experience and the eerie silence of White Hart Lane after the match was officially abandoned was quite unreal. To see both players and supporters of both clubs united in so much grief
put a real perspective on the whole situation.
The latest news is that Muamba will be kept under sedation in the London chest hospital until sometime tomorrow when an assessment will be carried out, I like everyone else will be praying for his complete recovery.
No wonder its all gone quiet on this thread regarding our various teams. Mine couldânt get a result in a knocking shop , Bobâs Reds have become a yo-yo side, Hammerâs lot have fallen in love with 1-1 draws, only Annieâs Arsenal have something to be happy about. The only other good news is, that Fabrice seems to be a little on the mend after that dreadful incident. Lets hope all our teams pull their finger out a bit more this weekend.
I would call it a miracle that young Fabrice has pulled through. To think this young lad was dead for such a long time, and as come through it. Itâs amazing what doctors can do these days.
I do hope and pray, that the future looks good for Fabrice and his family.
It was good to see all football fans, and players. Pulling together, for this young lad.
Couldnât agree more shaz, still a long way to go but a near miracle in my book.
Back to our various favourites, only Jimâs lot are anywhere near constant whilst Liverpool seem to be incapable of holding a lead and getting a result until a cup competition arises! Absolutely shameful, the way they threw a 2 goal lead away 13 minutes from the end of the game at QPR who scored 3 goals to cast more gloom over the men from Anfield.
I guess Hammer will be slating Sam Alardyce again LOL and John is about to give up the ghost, come on Annie, what about the Gunners?
Good luck this weekend everybody
Bob, it is not hard to slate Allardyce, he makes it far too easy.
I went to this match as my mates said I needed a bit of therapy but in truth I should have stayed at home.
I left Turf Moor and enjoyed the lovely sunshine on the Brunshaw road while waiting for my good mates to collect me. Despite the warm weather I could not get rid of the feeling that we had been beaten. I say this because at this stage of the season a single point must go down as a loss. If we want to get promoted we have to get the results whilst playimg with a bit of freedom and flair, a bit like the two cluba ahead of us in the table.
Five draws on the bounce is not a recipe for success and we will shortly only have the prospect of the play-offs to have any chance.
I read on the clubs pages that Allardyce said he was âflabbergastedâ by the result, given the way his starting eleven performed under his direction I think his words border on insanity. To persist with a 4-5-1 formation will in the end cost us dear in terms of promotion.
Noticable that after half time he changed things, put two up front and stopped playing the long ball, we actually started to work through the Burnley defences. what is wrong with the guy if he cannot see what has been going wrong, maybe he thinks, therefore he is, a pillock.
The next two games will be crucial and one of those is I believe is 2nd placed Reading, six points are a must if we are ever to get out of this mess.
Somehow it seems a folorn hope and I guess fortune will once again remain hiding, good lyrics for a song that.
Oh dear oh dear oh dear! seems like we are both suffering withdrawal symptons Hammer, like you I cannot comprehend why my favourites cannot develop a decent winning streak but Liverpool have been on a roller coaster all season and it says it all when it was reported that Anfield was reduced to near silence as Wigan played keep ball.
It seems that 'king Kenny' is quite content to go for cups this season and be damned to a decent league position! Why he keeps persevering with Andy Carroll, Charlie Adam and Jordan Henderson is beyond me. Ah well, there's always
Newcastle to look forward to I suppose, wonder who he will blame if or when they flop up there.
John and Jim have reason to be happier at present, long may it last LOL but it looks like Annie has given up on us! Good luck everybody.
Good god Lincoln City! Three points, albeit against a fellow struggler. Canât last surely? Bob, if you want cheering up a bit, thereâs a great spoof on youtube about Hitler running Liverpool, very funny. Hammer, I had a guy round to service my boiler(no not the wife!) turned out to be a West Ham fan.He reckons Allardyce is only there to get the club promotion, and heâd love to see Paulo de Canio take over.Says heâs met the fellow, and his passion for the Hammers is total. See the other reds won again, with a penalty not given against UnitedâŠmmmmm!
Hi John,
I knew there must be at least a couple of fans out there somewhere.
Paolo used to do a lot of PR stuff for us a while back and he did apply for the job after Avram toddled off down Green st to the job centre.
I know he was working hard for the coaching badges, it would have made life very lively to have seen him perform once more at the Boleyn.
He is still much admired and loved by the faithfull, his skill was sometimes bordering on pure magic. I think my mate said something about going to wembley to support Paolo and his Swindon side in the JPT but not sure if he went.
I have a lot of footage of WHU games with him playing and they are priceless.
As far as ManU go, well I say nothing but think a lot.
Here is a little of what Paolo still thinks of us.
Hi Shaz, they do seem to have the rub of the green but one notable exception remains one of the most satisfying results I have been lucky enough to witness.
Best of all it was in their own back yard and we had been under the cosh all the match, did we make the best of it dancing down Chester road, not arf. It does not happen too often.
