It sounds like the carpet in the bathroom contributed to the demise of your cousin. Frankly, that is believable.
Iād prefer to blame Thatcher for his demise, though it was actually leukaemia that got him in the end, Thatcher and a carpeted bathroom was surely a contributing factor.
So lets look at the facts ā¦
Harold Wilson was famous for smoking a pipe and wearing a Gannex Macā¦
John Major is remembered for his affair with Edwina Curryā¦
And James Callahan was PM in the winter of discontent and upset the unions so bad that there were lots of strikesā¦
And we hardly ever mention any of themā¦
So itās testament to how good Margaret Thatcher was because not only has someone started a thread about her, she is voted by many as the best PM of all timeā¦
Of course Google are going to tell you what the establishment want to hear.
And the MIT are being paid by the establishment.
You forgot to mention Blair. Heās very much overshadowed by the Iraq war. But actually did a lot for the country which is why he also had 3 terms. You canāt blame the UK for the financial crash of 2008.
He did a lot for country ? He also added to the population in biblical terms, something which we are living to regret.
Something we need to look after our aging population. I know and thanked the Polish staff looking after my mother in a care home. But Scotland has been very clear about welcoming workers from abroad.
I donāt have a problem with foreign workers Lincs, but the population has expanded so fast that Hospitals, schools, housing, and services havenāt kept up, so we find short of all those thingsā¦But very bad management by the government has to also be taken into account.
When a ship exceeds itās safe passenger numbers it sinksā¦
The population went up under Thatcher & Major 2m, then under Blair 4m and has gone exponentially after 2010 by 6m. Seems to have peaked in 2023. My view is that Thatcher made Britain a more attractive place to live. Then various wars made it a magnet for those fleeing conflict, but mainly those who thought it was an attractive place to live. On the one hand yes we need workers, on the other many of those workers bring their whole families. Why wouldnāt you if that is possible?
The Poles have been heading back to Poland in droves. A proportion settled here but many have and are returning.
This is correct - but then Poland has had decades of solid growth since it joined the EU. Its GDP per capita is now 80% of the level in the UK. With average house prices about half that of the UK it is much more attractive for Poles whoāve been living in the UK. Overall a huge success story - million or so Poles came to the UK, found work, paid taxes, spent money here ⦠and, yes, saved and sent money back to Poland. Poland grows into a proper first world country, gains wealth and the Poles in the UK return. Win-win. At least while the UK was in the EU.
The EU helped to make the UK a third world country, hence the Poles leaving. I canāt speak for anywhere else but there were lots of Polish around Doncaster but the open door policy allowed lots of Bulgarians, Romanians and others to flood into Doncaster and Rotherham. The Polish hated the Bulgarians and Romanians and many street battles broke out between different races.
There are still many no go areas as well as lots of sex gangs operating that police darenāt approach for fear of being called racist. So thanks to Angela Merkel and the EU youāve turned Doncaster and Rotherham into a Sh$thole after once being the most productive area in Englandā¦I suppose I could always move to Franceā¦
so what about Brexit? itās been ten years and the population keeps growing. Itās not down to the falling birth rate.
Patently not true. Since we left the UK growth has suffered and our standing in the world has fallen. And be honest, the towns you mention have been pretty grim since the demise of large scale industry - and you can look much closer to home for the cause of that. In fact you just have to look at the title of this thread.
There have been 9 Prime Ministers since Mrs Thatcher with three of them being Labour, so are you saying that none of those nine could not sort out the UK?
Well only one truly sold the UK down the river, out of the EU and into medocrity.
What about mediaocricty ?
what about whataboutism?
Is that about boxing?
Letās face it none of them have. In fact at least one has made the country poorer and they gave him a knighthood and a job as foreign secretary
