That dog again

It wasn’t on a busy street. It was precisely to avoid him being on a busy street.

I edited my post…maybe so…no matter where…I would not leave my dog,…maybe you tied him to something I hope?

Otherwise you could endanger other people…I have seen it happen…when dogs are left without a lead…they can and have caused accidents.

I take your point. I used to tie him up when I went in our local convenience store where we lived previously but ceased doing that when there were reports of dogs being stolen for baiting in dog fights.

Anyway, in this case, it was a footpath with no vehicles where he walks off lead.

Lovely photos Besso.

Thank you kindly, SP. We had a big fireworks display near us yesterday. In previous years, he got very upset by them but this year he was fine. A friend of my dear wife, who has a Great Dane, recommended some calming pills. They seem to have worked a treat.

That is good. Fireworks scare me sometimes.
Give Max a pat from me.

Instruction implemented…

I have posted pictures of Max. This is the one I had growing up. Not a brilliant photograph but it was sixty some years ago. And you can see the similarities:

It also gives an idea of where we lived.

He is a handsome fellow!

Thank you ST…
Like Max, he was beautifully behaved. Perhaps even better but then I had him from a puppy.

We keep contact with the rescue centre where we got Max and we update them on progress maybe a couple of times a year.

"A little update on Max aka Gendry

You know we have moved up country and Max seems to have taken to the new place. Walks off the lead except where we have to cross main roads but he knows the wait, walk and cross commands.

We meet and greet other dog walkers, two of whom are also called Max. One, a puppy, also called Max, just gets all over our big Max, strangling him, biting his ears. Gentle Max tolerates it.

We also walk little Ozzie for a neighbour. A Bedlington Terrier. Not our dog, so he stays on the lead - they search for rodents and some are known to do a runner. We can’t risk that.

I can’t quite explain quite how comfortably he (Max) seems to have taken to us…I know I have said I won’t inundate with photographs so just one.

Guarding the back door. Best intruder alarm you could wish for. That low growl tells you…if he suspects something suspicious.

He is an absolute gem."

Aww love to see the pics.

Thank you, SP. The response from the rescue centre was amazing with some very lovely comments.
One in particular gave me a lump in my throat. I commented that we were very lucky to get him.

Their response:
“He was very lucky to get you!”

What can you say to that?

Nothing - just accept the compliment gracefully. Max knows they are right!

Fabulous photo!

A birthday present for me. Some people know me too well.

Ha, that’s brilliant!

Is it your birthday today?

It was on the 26th Nov. Same as my paternal grandfather. And he had the same name. They, being in the Outer Hebrides, couldn’t get a marble plaque made so we did it for them. It was stored under my bed until our next visit. “Here lies Mr Me…”

Some people might have found that a bit spooky.

LOL! He certainly looks well ‘polished’! He is a very handsome dog, Besoeker.
