… and AND books do not have a screen that could shatter if dropped
How do you read it at night? All that buggering about with light switches and comfy chairs.
Yep, same here Bruce, sometimes you can find a good book in some very unexpected places…
Being on the forum is like being a member of an elite club, containing some of the best wisdom and minds in the world Bruce…
These days I’m never awake when it gets dark Bruce…
Books don’t like getting wet though.
Last time I went to the library I enquired what the band of cloth around the shelves was, the assistant replied “That’s a Turnup for the Books”
Nor do electronics
Pure water is Ok for electronics but it ruins books
Pure water has to be produced and when was the last time you had some de-min or distilled within dropping distance from your books and/or electronics?
I’ve been reading short (and not so short) stories on my little laptop. You lie in bed, put it on full screen, adjust the type size to your liking. It stands up on its own, I like it 2 or 3 feet away. Make yourself at home.
I need to stop you right there d00d, I lie in bed and that’s the last thing I remember until next morning…
Bedrooms are for sleeping in and should not be confused with cinemas, music venues or libraries…
One place in the world (or yer house) where you can escape the humdrum of the world outside and get some peace and quiet…

already in place so not needed as you say…Spits.
I always keep some handy (doesn’t everybody?)
Here it is posing an ever present danger to my last read as I type, It is right next to my microwave.
My paper book doesn’t need a battery July…
… and AND books do not have a screen that could shatter if dropped :+
I use my tablet for many things and it charge lasts a long while and I have a charger next to my bed - so running out of charge isnt a problem for me.
My tablet also has a screen protector and a cover - and Ive had tablets for many years now and managed not to shatter the screens
so both of above are non issues for me
I am converted to ebooks now - however if other people prefer paper books, that’s fine, I’m not trying to convert anyone else
I realise this is all getting bit silly now - but yes I have some too, use it in my iron.
Good advice for insomniacs, but thankfully I’m not one of them.
I used to, but soon got sussed out!!
I must admit to using some devious tactics in the past to get my own way Spitty, but I’ve tuned over a new leaf and am a reformed character now…
