Tearful Adele postpones entire Las Vegas residency

Well - Adele - whoever she is - has certainly generated a lot of free publicity!

ST, l don’t think she needs any free publicity when many will pay thousands to see her.

I have never taken to her, she has a vile tongue. Her songs all sound the same and too shouty for me.
I think she has slipped up badly here and she’s definitely not right mentally at the moment.

Art, I feel much the same as you. When she talks she can have a vile tongue I agree.
My feelings when I saw her crying at the interview were she did not look at all right mentally, too.
I remember when Britney Spears cracked, and it looked like Adele was suffering the same problem.

Mups, Then she had the audacity to offer those that spent thousands to see her show a free goody bag in her shop! She even offered young fans a drink until she realised they were underage!

She should reimburse these poor, unfortunate people, out of her own money. She has enough.

I dunno, could be desperation, could be a ploy, we shall see.
The money don’t matter, only to the hangers on.

Yes, maybe you’re right Spitty.
I just thought she didn’t look ‘quite right’ though.

So did I, but, in preforming arts circles, nothing is what it seems.

Sources told the Sun the shows were destined for trouble due to behind-the-scenes clashes between Adele and acclaimed set designer Esmeralda Devlin - with whom she previously worked on her 2016 world tour.

One source claimed: ‘In spite of the set costing millions to put together, Adele was unhappy with the result, and she made her feelings very clear to Es. She was already nervous and the falling-out sent her spiralling into a panic because she was desperate that everything should be perfect.’

A second source said the dispute came after the production had already been thrown into chaos by ‘endless changes’ to the running order.

They added: 'There was no real clarity around what Adele wanted for the show because of the endless changes being made to the production. ‘It seemed that while she has always preferred a stripped-back performance, she was under some pressure to come up with a huge extravaganza. So there was a constant ricochet between those two versions of what the show should be, and it did cause some quite explosive arguments. Most shows have teething problems of one kind or another, but there has been a feeling for some time that these shows were heading for disaster. It is well known that Adele suffers badly with anxiety when it comes to performing live, so it’s hard to imagine her going ahead if she wasn’t happy.’

Does Las Vegas do “stripped-back”? I always though it was renowned for the spectacular … :man_shrugging:

Oh for heavens sake, all she has to do is squawk out a few songs, she’s not staging an opera. I’ve never been a fan, she sounds like a third rate pub belter too me, very loud, lots of vocal gymnastics but no real quality.

I have to agree … :+1:

It’s a stunt. The dear lady doesn’t need Vegas $ She’s streetwise, got all the frocks she needs. She’s doing it for Britannia, letting us know there, something more important, something else on the front pages, taking the pressure off the PM and his indiscretions.

I suspect as always, there is a lot more we don’t know about.

And the PM is taking the heat off Prince Andrew’s and his indescretions.

According to reports, it seems the singer is far from blameless in the collapse of the Caesars Palace shows with just 24 hours’ notice.

Sources in Las Vegas say that her team were a ‘total nightmare’ during preparations for her three-month residency. And they claim there is now ‘friction’ between the 33-year-old and her management team, which is ‘adding to the stress level’.

Extraordinarily, it is said that Adele and her team insisted on replacing the state-of-the art sound system at the venue’s Colosseum theatre with their own and also demanded that they install an entirely new video system. The existing system was considered good enough by previous acts such as Madonna, Mariah Carey and Celine Dion – none of whom is known for being easy-going.

Vegas journalist Scott Roeben, who broke the story of her residency, said: ‘Apparently, Adele and her team refused to use the house equipment in The Colosseum. The theatre has a massive video screen, very high tech, but Adele’s team insisted upon an entirely new system – a larger screen, essentially built a few inches in front of the existing screen. Such demands not only drive up production costs but, at a time when supplies are disrupted, it’s a recipe for disaster – in this case last-minute delays or cancellations. I also hear from a source that Caesars had to replace the cutting edge Meyer sound system and replace it with a different system for her.’

Roeben, who writes for the news site casino.org, added: ‘It’s being shared from those familiar with the situation that Caesars Palace was ‘100 per cent ready for her’, so there are other forces at work here. Unfortunately, it sounds like one of those factors is a diva.’

Some believe that, given the venue’s programme of events, it is possible that she won’t perform until 2023. There is also speculation that, despite tickets selling out and the prospect of riches, it may never happen.

It’s all a headache for her British manager Jonathan Dickins, who snapped her up as an unsigned teenager who appeared on social media and has been at her side throughout. He put her together with a writer for her debut single Chasing Pavements and has steered her to global superstardom, including during her world tour in 2016 and 2017. He was paid £10million in 2020.

There has been speculation that Adele might prefer to have her boyfriend Rich Paul, who is a sports agent, in the driving seat. He was in Vegas with her as she rehearsed for the shows, which were to net her £500,000 a night.

A-ha … is the boyfriend, the ambitious Paul, behind this? Apparently, he came from “nowhere” to become an NBA players’ agent - the “business” is now worth $1,000,000,000 and he’s (conservatively) worth $120,000,000.

Of course, this is only gossip, speculation and conjecture … :man_shrugging:

I think is tantamount to stealing .
People paid for her to sing and sing she should have .

More speculation:

According to the New York Daily News, the superstar singer interrupted rehearsals to take calls from her boyfriend and was seen breaking down in tears. An inside source said: “There’s trouble in paradise. That’s why she can’t perform.”

She has now pulled out of her planned performance at the Brits live at London’s O2 Arena. Brits bosses are scrambling to make alternative arrangements for the ceremony on February 8.

Why do these so called celebrities think that anyone is interested in the minutiae of their personal lives? So many of them have fewer morals than a street walker.

Well, at least 12,000,000 fans follow Adele on Twitter, 20,000,000 fans will buy an album and 1,000,000 will buy tour tickets (and merchandise), generating an income for Adele of an estimated £60,000,000 a year and bringing her personal wealth to an estimated £250,000,000 - I guess some people like Adele’s turgid, self-absorbed output … :man_shrugging:

LOL … and some people have more money than sense! But - to each his own.
