When I first tried doing panoramic shots I had to take several photos and line them up so an editing suite could marry them up.The problem I seem to remember was colour/light match, the sky was the hardest part.
Things moved on with later editing suites , they progressed to auto matching which made things a lot easier.
This is even now easier done within a camera, such as a compact Panasonic DC-TZ95 camera which I have.
