British supermarket bacon is a disgrace.
We get good stuff from a Portuguese deli locally or a Polish deli, even more local.
Delish sliced & fried or get a lump and boil it.

I’d all but forgotten that we have a Polish deli in town. We’ll pop in there at the weekend. They sell some really delicious types of bread, might go very well with the bacon!

I don’t eat my porcine friends, but if I ever buy bacon for visiting guests, I always buy that “dry cured” stuff. That is gross enough but the “wet cured” stuff which leaks all that salty water into the grill pan is even more gross 
- why not love your piggy friends and leave out the bacon - smashed avocado on toast or veggie sausages and mushrooms taste great with poached eggs for breakfast.

Funny thing is, if you scour Youtube you will find damn foreigners complaining that Australian bacon is too thick. 
Supermarket or butcher bacon seems OK to me, I have no complaints.

I can not fathom supermarket anything being like butcher .
I eat black pudding 2x a week and went with my neighbor to a butcher who had it and simply AMAZING but for some reason he no longer carries it and not that he does not want me there which is what my daughters implied because I dropped in 2x since then and he did not have it .
Supermarket is now where I go and not bad but not fresh like butcher .

Chances are that was me complaining as we old Yanks enjoy complaining and putting down other countries , it is a hobby here in the states .

Lol I have found older " gentlemen " from UK and those of here in the states interchangeable .
I base this on tourists .
Women bit easier going and since here as tourists want to enjoy it but us older men regardless of where from , enjoy life by complaining .
