Strictly 2014

As I said earlier I am a bit of a newbie to it but I thought the premise of the show was taking people who had not danced and teach them, award those who learned. If that isn’t it then I don’t quite get it. It suddenly becomes a rather cruel thing where we watch some elegant dancers and laugh at those who can’t dance :frowning:

As I understand it they recruit a variety of people of various ages, various sizes and various abilities and they compete against each other to see who is considered to be the best dancer. PS They all get very well paid for taking part. May the best woman/man win.

As AC said it’s not really about taking complete novices who have never danced a step before. It’s not just a competition, they are paid for taking part.

I wasn’t aware of anyone laughing at the contestants. On the contrary the public support those who are less able dancers as we can see from the voting.
They get a huge sympathy vote as so many people probably empathise with them. The more able in the middle of the table are more at risk of being voted off as happened this week.
They all do ok out of it in the end so no worries really.

I haven’t watched it much this year , it is all getting a bit ‘samey’ right down to the music which doesn’t seem to change much either .

Strictly come dancing.

I don’t see why the viewers should be able to vote for the contestants to stay in the show. They all seem to vote for their favourites, not for the best dancers.
Simon Webb leaving this week is all wrong when Judy Murrey and Alison Hammond are far worse than him.
I think the judges should vote only. After all they are dancers and know what to look for in a good dancer.

Yes - now there’s a thought, I’ll think on it, but I’m leaning your way …

I think Joe public voted to keep Anton rather than get shot of Judy.Don’t think Joe public like Kristina,so they don’t vote for her partner. The judges do know what they are talking about.

I don’t vote but I loved they kept Judy she really improved this week and seems to be loving the show, Simon meh nothing special although he thinks he is.

Personally I think the public should vote for who they want to go, I think that would results in the poorest dancer going each week.

Don’t know what you were watching - but I watched ‘Simon’ voted to stay in and rightly so !

Judy did get laughed at, very unjustly, that’s what upset me.
Sometimes the panel are very childish in their critique, she did well this week compared to the previous dire performances.

Yes every year someone is but of the jokes and if you look at other forums you find people laughing unkindly about them too.

I am so glad that Judy stayed in last night she is improving week on week and Anton is always very protective of his partner and encouraging.

I think it is the same as every reality show people vote for who they know to start off with and then start voting for who is good.

Love this show it is my Saturday night viewing taken care of

Yes he was saved Patsy but I don’t think Simon or Thom Evans who was voted off should have been put in that position in the first place when there are far worse dancers than those two. After all it is a dancing competition not a personality one.

Just what I was going to suggest Alan

If that were true why would they take on people who can’t dance ? would be cruel IMO

Perhaps they need 2 competitions one for good dancers and one for improving beginners. I know which one I would watch.

Absolutely agree - neither should have been there, haven’t said anything different. Just giving credit where it is due, in respect of Judy …

There’s plenty of forums and other places on line where all you see is people being ridiculed and rubbished, all kinds of people from all walks of life. It’s what a lot of people do on line all day.

They don’t speak for anyone who has got a brain.

I don’t think that anything that was said to Judy on Saturday would have cost her a thought, they all go out after they show and party together, they are the best of friends. She is having a ‘ball’ literally and really enjoying all the support and attention and that’s fair enough. She is an extremely successful woman with bags of confidence.

I also think that it would be better if the public voted for who they want to go rather than stay as too many people are not getting any votes. The public seem to be divided into 2 groups, those who like to support the ‘underdog’ and those who support the best dancers, the quite good contestants in the middle are forgotten in the main which is why they appear in the dance off before their time.

Full marks to everyone involved in the Halloween Strictly last night, the costumes, make up and music was amazing.

So who do you think will be voted out tonight? The obvious choices for the bottom two are Scott Mills and Judy Murray but as has been seen in this series, a few shock names have been included.

I was quite impressed with Zoe Ball standing in for Claudia last night too.

Saw Judy being interviewed on breakfast tv. She did admit she had two left feet when it came to dancing. Thank goodness she realises it. Did think she was getting a bit more supple though.
