Stranded in the desert and ignored by passing cars

Each time a car passed him on the Eyre Highway, he would get out of his car to alert the driver that he needed help.

“But no one stopped,” he said.

He said about 40 drivers ignored him.

“I was starting to get hungry on the second day. I had no more food because all my food went bad.”

Fortunately:

Truck driver Chevy Hawkins was on his way home after helping to deliver hay to drought-stricken South Australia when his mum contacted him to say a man was stuck on Eyre Highway near Madura.

This is a surprise to me,I thought we were better than that in Oz

I’m surprised nobody stopped, surely they could see he was needing help not planning to attack them. It sounds a dangerous place to breakdown. Shame on those that ignored them.

Blimey, that is a harsh insight into human nature.

Whilst I might have been wary of stopping myself did no one even think of using their mobile to call the police to help him out.

Hats off to the truck driver who finally helped him
