Did you actually listen to it? Double standards.
Esther Rantzen was on TV recently talking about all the campaigns and petitions she was involved with when she worked at the BBC.
That’s OK then because that was the BBC not GB News.

Yes I did listen to it.
Not in our lifetime maybe (or maybe) but eventually babies will be microchipped at birth. No need to remember your pin then.
You have continuum amongst your post personnel? If I see the same one twice then that is quite unusual. As for post leading up to and including the 24th, much of it is either delayed or “goes missing” which to me means stolen en route, or worse still dumped somewhere🤬
We do LD,lived in the same house for 14 years and have had only Two posties up until the best one retired a couple of months ago.
I haven`t seen the new one as of yet.
Nothing has gone missing as of yet.
Good grief what a thought!
Who knows?
Although I’m passionate about some of the petitions that appear online Annie, I had to chuckle when I read your post…My thoughts exactly…I would never sign anything online because they want to know too much about you. I understand that everyone has to be verified to avoid cheating but when they ask you to start an account or give them your details I leave it at that…I mean, will petitions do any good anyway?
I have gone largely cashless-mainly because of cashless sporting stadia-but you can’t eradicate cash and I’ll be visiting a cash point on Monday to pay for my taxi fare home on Monday evening.
But that is a rare occurrence for me these days…
But you can’t have a situation where you can never pay for anything in cash.
While I have largely embraced technology I continue to refuse to buy a smartphone which means I am banned from the Millennium Stadium!
And it seems there are moves afoot to close station ticket offices forcing people to buy online or use-often card only-ticket machines.
I’ve embraced those too.
But as someone mentioned upthread sometimes your card may not work…but a quick clean often works as I discovered in HomeBargains.
They don’t want paper tickets because they can’t trace your movements on those. It’s so much easier seeing your journey history via an app.
But in terms of ticket offices closing there has been a big uproar by disabled charities and representatives. Ticket offices organise far more than ticket sales for those who require accessibility or who cannot access the touchscreens etc. You’d think with tech they would be more sympathetic to the disabled. As with so many systems created by the young and fit, the thought of being helpless just doesn’t enter the mind of the designer.
I don’t do online petitions because they never ask whether or not you agree. That would make it far more interesting.
They’ll know everything about you for sure if we go cashless! Where you travel to, where you shop, what you buy, what you eat and drink, how much you spend, how much you have saved up etc etc.
Don’t think we use much cash anyway. Mostly we use cards for groceries, your water bill etc. All cashless. What am I missing?
Sorry didn’t explain myself well. When you use your cards you leave a trail and Big Brother knows all your movements. Not possible with cash.
OGF seems to think just adding your name to petitions is dodgy but I THINK using cards for all your transactions is even more so.
I don’t know who you regard as “big brother” - but I know that it is my bank which records my bank card purchases. I have no worries on that score.
It is the discount cards and loyalty cards from supermarkets and other retailers (those cards that give you points, special offers and and money off purchases) which feel more like “big brother” to me because I am sure my purchases and spending habits are being recorded by using those loyalty cards - it is obvious from the tailored offers I receive.
However, it is the price I pay for getting those discounts.
I suspect a lot of folk who still pay in cash will also use those Loyalty Cards which give them discounts - if they don’t use them, then they are probably paying more for their purchases than they need to - and it is those “loyalty cards” which will be tracking their spending, no matter what method of payment they use.
Yes but how many people use cash at the supermarket? Please understand that I am not promoting Cashless Britain - there are just some simple things where you need cash like for our window cleaner.
I think it’s a bit late for that. Assuming you are under investigation, the cops have easy and immediate access to information like utilities & internet use at your home, the use of travel card, passport, car … it’s all recorded on big bothers computer. You’d be better off throwing some red herrings, give your card to a friend to travel around spending numerous small amounts on interesting things like No Shit Sherlock paperbacks.
Are Window Cleaners “Simple”?
My window cleaner is not simple - he is smart - he saves time and money by asking customers if they will send their payments direct to his bank account via bank transfer - that means he only has to call for payment at the few households who still prefer to pay by cash.
He must be an honest window cleaner too, who is happy to record his income officially and pay his tax dues, like the majority of workers have to.
I bet your Window Cleaner, has some confessions tucked away.
