Starmer is having a bad time

Agreed …it’s better and more understandable that he should go.

Rishi Sunak has gone that quiet now I’d never realised that he still is an MP… especially with all the other business interests, , his wife’s included, that he’s involved in.

I’m waiting to see if Burnham lasts… or should I say, How long?

Burnham appears to be a better communicator so that’s an advantage over Starmer. He also seems to be more considered in his promises which will also help. What he needs to avoid like a plague are u-turns. What needs to expect is the press are not his friend, with one or exceptions, and are already targeting him. There has long been a press bias against Labour PMs - imagine how many hours Johnson would have lasted if he had been Labour.

Keir Starmer is a lawyer - surely he’ll go back to 'lawyering (Is that a word?)

Hi

Nope, he has announced that he will be involved in International Politics.

I’m thinking that while Burnham appears to be making noises regarding domestic/municipal affairs it’ll be the bigger international issues that are really going to test his mettle…

I have faith in him.

I’m afraid I haven’t but I’m a cynic and think the way he manouvered into power was appalling … but … time will tell.
He may prove me wrong and be a fantastic PM.
He doesn’t need to be fantastic just halfway decent would do.

Andy Burnham has promised to bring back Hope, that’s all well and good but what’s he doing about Faith and Charity  :icon_wink:

Wasn’t he manoeuvred by others due to a lack of options. And he, being a popular and successful mayor of Manchester with Westminster experience, was offered the job. I think he can do it.

I don’t think he can be described as being a “successful Mayor” when he left Manchester £1.34bn in debt, up from £964m when he took office

Banning buses on a Sunday might be a start!

Back to basics

Oh I hadn’t heard about that. So a rubbish mayor and popular with it.

I concede he must have done some good … he seemed to be popular.
He reminds me of an overgrown boy scout, he’s so earnest looking … which is better than the usual dodgy secondhand car salesman.

It’s all about having a good PR man/woman in your corner.
It’s they who interface with the media.
The governments of the UK have made some appalling mistakes since Margaret Thatcher and the country has descended into the worst condition it has ever been in.
It’s going to take more than one man or party to dig us out.
I don’t believe that it can be done in the 5 year term of office currently allowed.
Unless someone firm and fearless making hard decisions comes along we are a lost cause.
Reform might be our last chance.

That is why, no teamwork has ever figured for me, its all staged :icon_wink:

Hi OGF

I often press the button to like your posts and so do many others.

I respect you but in no way do I always agree with you.

My likes are genuine, not staged.
