After a trying first 7 weeks of 2026 (cold, rain, storms, sodden ground, grey) it has all changed. Bright, bright sunshine and warmth. Easily 24 deg yesterday afternoon, most likely 20+deg each day until Saturday. This is a principle reason to live in the south west of France, rather than north east Scotland where I was born. I noticed that the average peak temperature for Aberdeen in the height of summer is 17 deg and that they’ve had constant rain since Christmas. I still support the Scotland rugby team (promise I won’t gloat over England or Wales) but I now also sing allez les bleus. In the sun.

It’s far from spring here. We have at least 2 months before we’ll have spring weather. Here’s a picture from today. It was sunny but -1 degrees Celsius.
was so nice being out in the garden, birdies singing, daffs in flower, and another hedgehog released into the garden this evening
