Hi
The problem is getting to the right one, so much is automated now, standard treatments, standard pathways.
They are not always the answer, the professionals think outside the box.

I have the right heart specialist thatās for sure, my word she knows her stuff, I always ask to be seen by her, when I go for my check upā¦
Hi
An explanation, the standard treatments simply were not working, in hospital every few weeks and every time my heart was weakened.
It takes a very confident Doctor to try something different.
I got one, explained the issues, and went for it.
It has worked, early days, but I am still here and feeling much better.
The alternative was dying slowly in Hospital.
Better to take the chance.
Iām glad the consultant tried something different and that you are benefiting from it, life is so precious, plus itās improved your health,ā¦well done him and you for taking that risk.
In most service organisations there is quite a lot of āHit & Missā.
By that, mean, that there could be half a dozen results, from a search of symptoms, and the āDoctorā who has the most experience, in any specific area, is the one who might get the right result early on.
The same concept applies in Car Servicing, Computer Servicing, you name it!
Itās a bit of a lucky dip.
Maybe, only in medicine, do we get to witness every step of the way?
With each step bringing more worries.
Glad itās going well, Swim!
Donāt give up!
An interesting topic.
There are specialists and consultants, and there are specialists and consultants!
As everywhere else, there are good ones and there are better ones!
How to choose? How to know which one to go with?
Well, I have been particularly fortunate with my recent health problems, because Marge in her work has come across many colleagues at all levels and, although she is now retired, she has kept in touch with a lot of them.
So when we decided (actually, she insisted) that rather than waiting 6 months or more to see a specialist, I should go privately. She asked around and some of her ex-colleagues offered some very useful advice as to who is āthe bestā for a specific condition. Thatās how we found out who to go with.
Unfortunately, it isnāt so easy to find out if you donāt know who to ask, although your own GP should have some idea. Iām not sure whether theyāre allowed to recommend individuals, though.
