It is a strange game, and i feel it is getting better, knowing that every sport that can be timed or measured has advanced, then it follows that those the cant be timed nor measured will also have advanced, i used to enjoy a game, but was never any good… my wife never misses a game on TV yet i got to two finals [different clubs] and my wife never attended either [mm yes she is an ex-wife]… but back in the day Joe Davis was miles better than anyone and i cant remember him being beaten, i think his little brother Fred played at the crucible, now it is only an opinion, but i doubt joe would have gotten as far as Sheffield, and would be knocked out in the prelims… mind you they used different balls back in the day…
The cloths were thicker and no cue extensions, which allow modern day players to make shot that were impossible back then.
yes when i was playing every table had a long que with a long rest hung on the side of the table it was a nightmare to use, for shots near the ‘wrong’ cush. i practiced playing the shots left handed…
