Smart TV - not so smart owner!

I have a Samsung TV connected to a Freesat box. Last week my area had a power cut and since then the TV isn’t allowing me to access iplayer and ITV Hub as it used to and I get the message that I must connect to the internet. Also due to the powercut, my Router was fried and I’ve had to connect another router - with a new password. I can’t find any instructions in the Samsung LCD TV User Manual but have found some online which all refer to pressing the Home button on the remote and choosing settings. Not sure why, but my remote is this: Universal Replacement Remote Control for SAMSUNG TV - AA59-00443A: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo which doesn’t have a ‘home’ button. Anyone techie enough to know how I can access settings without a ‘home’ button? Thanks.

I have a similar set up as you , on your tv remote, have you got a Menu button to press , this is what I have for settings .

also I have a message sometimes that says im not connected , if this comes up switch off tv and Freeview box and sometimes it needs switching off at the plug . Then switch on again .

Yes, there’s a green menu button right in the centre which you can use to proceed as Eliza suggested.

Thank you both. I’ve followed your instructions and got into settings, BUT - there doesn’t seem to be a WIFI to select. Have you any idea which item I should select to input the new WIFI password?

when you go into menu, there’s a list to go down , if you go down to General , that opens up another list , at the bottom of that list is Start set up , Im taking a guess thats where you will set your pass word … I had someone who set it up so im as much in the dark as you …
hope thats of some help .

It says: About this item
Replacement Remote Control for your Samsung TV Remote Model AA59-00443A No programming / syncing required, simply insert batteries! (Batteries NOT included)
Perhaps you would then just follow the usual routine described in this video.

A lot of Samsung televisions come with a satellite tuner included. Does yours? If so, the Freesat box could be dispensed with. This won’t solve the Internet connection of course but useful to know if your TV has a satellite (Freesat) tuner or not. Do you have a UHF aerial as well as a satellite dish?

Thanks to everyone for your replies. I’ve tried to follow every suggestion…on the remote, I press the green MENU button and I get a list on the TV: Mode; Backlast; Contrast; Brightness; Sharpness; Colour and .Tint. Nothing seen to do with WIFI. I’m beginning to wonder if the WIFI password needs to be put into the Freesat box and not the TV. The Freesat instructions appear to suggest I need to “connect your box to your TV using the HDMI cable”…it continues with instruction to connect the Freesat box to the router using an ethernet cable - that’s certainly not happened in the past. I’ll keep trying various things…

Do Samsung not have a helpline or at least some means of contacting them directly?

Instead of pressing the green menu button which is for the TV, you might want to try pressing the SMART hub button which is for connections. Use the left directional button and you’ll get a list with different option on the left. Scroll down to settings, then scroll over to All settings and select it. Then go to Connection, network, network settings, select wireless and type in your WIFI password. All explained in the video.

Thanks - I’ll give that a try tomorrow as I’m out for the rest of the evening.
