I suppose you still can’t be sure whether the ‘phantom earth dumper’ was your favourite neighbour or one of the others.
Clearly, you need to get into the habit of putting the bollard back in whenever you go out. It may take a couple of minutes longer, but probably worth it.
Actually, wouldn’t it take longer to put it in your garage than to put it back in its hole?
Don’t ever mention the dirt in the hole whatever you do carol !!
And always put the pole back in the hole!
He is probably working out his next move?
Your letter idea was a good move l think, now every body knows
where they stand!!
Before I put the bollard up I would be laying a few hard tacks exactly where his tyres would go. Once he’s driven over the tacks and driven away I would make sure the ‘residue’ were all cleared up iykwim.
There’s more than one way to skin a cat.
Carol I think it is awful that you are having these problems, being elderly and needing access to your own drive is important even more so for you when you have Tony to look after.
Unless people have experienced looking after someone with Alzheimer’s they have no idea how exhausting and difficult it can make life and you don’t need all this tension and worry in addition. I admire how you cope with the situation.
Someone should have a polite word with your bullying neighbour
At least you aren’t taking the revengeful path, Carol, you are mature ,plus all done legally, there is something about that path ,that makes me extremely happy and peaceful…great that you posted a letter through their doors, explaining the situation,…your mature approach ,has certainly worn off on your son, by leaving his gate open…unselfish young man!!..
And, how about a letter to your MP/Council signed by all the residents of the street to get that gate removed again. Explain the turning problems since it went up. Of course you could hint to Mr Bully about a bottle of whisky being available for anyone who quietly removed the damn thing.
Since my letter to the neighbours, all has been quiet.
I’m really trying to go the peaceful route here.
My letter to my MP has been acknowledged and his secretary is phoning me next week.
Now Bully Boy see’s that I am trying to help them all he may relent & leave my bollard alone.
Instead of me reacting by winging & moaning & shouting I have remained dignified & reacted by showing concern for his predicament.
Even if the council refuse - at least I have tried, which is something the idiot neighbours didn’t do for themselves!! Hopefully any anger towards me will have dissipated.
If my bollard gets sabotaged any more I shall just have to admit defeat & let them run all over my property.
Carol, have you had more incidents with the bollard? I thought you only had the one, also, if your land is private, the council will not get involved,I have been down that route, now, that track ,that you all drive down, maybe that is council?
No more incidents only the one with the soil thank goodness. I’m hoping my letter & my attempts to get the gate removed will dampen any hostility.
Yes the lane is private & full of potholes to prove it.
The gate at the end of the lane joins on to the park which the council own.
It’s a bit complicated, but there didn’t used to be a gate there & people could manoeuvre their cars freely - so why did the council put it there? It’s my mission to get it removed.
I thought this thread was finished a week ago. Thanks everybody for your interest.
Carol, l love to read this thread as it’s like a television series!
You are the goodie fighting the baddie!
I can’t wait for the next episode! Or when the Cavalry arrive!
