Seeing the International Space Station

At last! :038:

A lovely clear starry night and it passed overhead at 6.36pm  Well worth standing out in the cold!

It looked like one light to me Colin, strange how it just disappears in a blink…

It might be my contact lenses in the cold  yes it goes quite sudden, once in the shadow I presume

Excellent

Time for tomorrow Tuesday the 5th of February 5:43pm for about 6 minutes with an angle of about 80 degrees for Bristol! so almost overhead again and bright

Standing by … well not exactly

To cold I would leave it for about another 19 hours or so :lol:

Todays times! for Wednesday…

Wednesday the 6th of February Sighting of ISS at 6:30pm

OK Chance of seeing the International Space Station Wednesday at 6:30pm weather permitting for 4 minutes, it’s at an angle of about 27 degrees for Sheffield, so anywhere South of that it will be higher in the sky and anywhere North it will be lower in the sky.

As per usual to see it, go outside and face South, the ISS will be a bright steady white light that crosses the sky from West to East.

Has it gone again now, Colin?

If so, when will it be back visible to us again please?

No viewing this/yesterday evening due to rain.

It looks like out of the current batch there are only the next two nights with possible sightings…

Thursday 7th 5:39pm for about 4 minutes
Friday 8th 6:24pm for about 3 minutes

Mind looking at the weather forecast there might not be much chance of seeing them…
I am sure it will return at some point though, problem is it might be at some silly times…

I forgot until the last minute and it had clouded over anyway

This last bunch, I’ve only seen it once due to rain/snow/cloud/more snow etc :frowning:

And tonight looks cloudy too :frowning:

After the current batch it won’t be back until at least February 20th, and as Colin said, probably at stupid o’clock.

Keep your eye on the thread, one of us will post times.

Thanks folks.
I’ll keep popping in to check. :023:

No luck tonight, it was too cloudy…

I’ve given up here Mags, the forecast is for cloud forever more :frowning:

It doesn’t look too promising at all Nicol :frowning:

You will all be glad to know that it was clear here, the Moon is nice as well, just a thin sliver

Pffffftttt! :019:

Oh, and talking of things in the sky, Venus was really exceptionally bright this morning, at first I was sure it was a plane but it didn’t move so I then realised that it was indeed Venus and what I thought was Venus was actually Jupiter.
