Dianne, You are so lovely! Honestly.
I am double jabbed and every few weeks I take a covid test. All negative. I have stopped wearing a mask now as I have quite low blood pressure and I have almost fainted a few times when wearing it.
We were all told that vaccines were the answer so I feel I have done my bit. We live in a rural village and I seldom go to densely populated places.
I have three tests per week, two lateral flow and one pcr, I’m used to it now but when I first started I had a sneezing fit,
I remember the first test I had to do at a covid testing station, the bloke who handed me the test and watched was laughing his head off because I couldn’t stop gipping, the thing up my nostril fair made my eyes water, not a pleasant experience at all.
I must admit if I hear someone cough near me I give them the death stare and put my fingers into the sign of the cross!
LQ, That reminds me of one of the lockdowns.
I was queueing with a mask on, far apart from the woman in front of me outside a chemist.
Suddenly, l coughed and her head swung around really fast and she really gave me the ‘evils’!
it were me mwahahaha
I cough every time I put my mask on !
It also appears to make both me and the shop assistants deaf .
As someone who will rely on lip-reading when in noisy environments, I agree with your observation. My aids do have a certain ability to deal with such situations (so called digital technology), but in the noise and bustle of a busy supermarket, they are nearly always ineffective.
EDITED to add … my hearing loss is my onw fault for spending too much time in front of high powered guitar amplifiers before the days of much improved PA/house sound systems were much smaller amps are now the norm.
I just thought l would add… I received a text at 7.20am today to inform me that my Covid test result was …Negative.
That’s a relief.
