Scam from Supposedly sick sender!

Received email, yesterday, to my email address, supposedly sent by old work mate last seen in very early 1990s.

It said that he wondered how I was but couldn’t telephone due to a very serious thoat infection, so had to communicate by email.

I did reply (!) but asked if he could, before anything else, answer a couple of questions to show me that it was not a scam.

Question 1 - what was the neme of the Pub we always met in at Christmas, (2) what was our boss’s name.

He then replied that he needed help, as he had severe cancer and couldn’t get out, so could I buy some gift vouchers and send them to his sick daughter!

No reply to my test questions.

Note to add, he may have bought the email addresses, back in the day, when some went awol.

Not a ex government minister from Nigeria ?

Thats one to look out for Ted, Ive had past ones, from a Church group leader stuck on holiday in a foriegn country without any money !

That is sick!

This scam was entertaining for me, @Tedc ! Obviously, you reacted well, and all is OK.
So pathetic, these scammers. Pinning a blue ribbon on your chest for being cautious, and sharing with us.

whenever some tragedy happens in the world within hours a plea appears on FaceBook for funds to help those involved in said tragedy… the vast majority has to be scams but someone will send a donation without a doubt.
