Tis true - a spoonful of ‘Jem’ keeps ya smiling all day !
See …
A crap poem…
How dare you call me a weed,
I’m a pretty wild flower
With countless little seeds
For the observant to admire
I have been here for years
Though you’ve just noticed me
I smile through my tears
I’m a complete mystery
Have a good look around
On this beautiful day
I’ll name some you’ve found
Come I’ll show you the way
Here are the most common of all
Flowering on fragile long stems
Why it’s madame Daisy, first at our ball
One of so many beautiful femmes
Buttercup flowers held under a chin
Reveal whether or not you like to have butter
She’s not fussy just what she’s in
A flower pot will do, or even the gutter
A dandelion seed head has a little known use
When the seeds are blown off and counted
For it tells you your age, how very obtuse
Best call horse, run away, when your mounted
Are you thinking the same as me
This poem is unremitting tosh
It’s because I’ve run out of ideas you see
What a confession to make golly gosh.
Excellent RJ, great to see you back in top form.
Talking of dandelions there are still some flowering in my side garden, they haven’t stopped throughout the whole year, what a sturdy plant they are. I know nothing about gardening but I have often wondered who has the right to call one species a flower and another a weed.
Hi Robert - I enjoyed that one - of the cuff and a journey through the garden patch- hints of dillan Thomas there - well done!
Why thankyou kind sirs. I must write some more
Yes, keep them coming please, Robert

On reflection
the selection
of words which rhyme
most of the time
poetry doesn’t make
its a mistake
to think so
I don’t know
what defines this form
of expression
Just guessing.
a thought is taken
stirred ,not shaken
viewed from other ways
close minded never pays
couched in language rich
or simple, take your pick

I like that :-D, especially the bit about ‘close minded never pays’ - right up my street that.

I feel fully sixty five today
Here’s the reason why
I fail to see the value in
A life of suffering
It’s not that I’m in constant pain
It goes away then comes back again
Could I have a little break
From one or two of my many aches
If I tweak my store of meds
Concocted for me by clever heads
I can limit the shaking
But then new torments making
There’s people who are much worse than me
You don’t have to go far , these people to see
Some want to draw a close on their life
Currently their wishes cause trouble and strife
There comes a point when “enough is enough”
Though it’s easy to decide , for others it’s tough
It’s against the lands law
You can’t do it, that’s all
It’s not right to hasten the day of reckoning
But this existence is not what I was expecting
Then go with the flow
Life ends for all sometime we know
There’s no rule book to study and follow
So take deep breath and swallow
It’s my life, it’s my life to end when I decide
Some parts were good, yes a hell of a ride
Well that latest poem is no-doubt a personal one. I can’t dish out words of advice, wouldn’t even try, as I will just appear patronising and you can do without that. Also I seem to have taken dislike to a word lately that would be appropriate here - the sorry one - but again it carries little weight at times. I will say though that normally you have to sink pretty low to really appreciate things and life, to then rise like a phoenix from the ashes to a new one. I just hope that is the case with your own.
That’s a bit depressing RJ, and Spring just upon us, life popping up everywhere, smile and have a glass of the hard stuff and you’ll feel better, we all get a bit down now and then, as me granny used to say when I was feeling low “Jimmy get outa that humour or I’ll get yeh out of it” always worked, she was a big woman you see.
Thanks gents for the cheery responses.
That was how I felt on that day, it doesnt represent my general mood. On good days I get out & about & don’t touch the computer, so I think I’m giving out the wrong impression.
Sorry I got the wrong impression RJ, I thought you were about to throw in the towel there (“Enough is enough”), that poem really put the wind up me old chap, great to see you back to your jolly old self again.
love the poems! great reading , thanks Robert
THankyou JEM & DEE
Hear hear
Yeah, I feel like s*** on some days too .
I think your mood must be infectious as it must have influenced me when writing my last kinda dreary poem …
I dedicate this to Tony Maloney of NASA. who was the first man to orbit the cuckoo’s nest single handed.
ONLY the BALONEY.
Space is here and space is there
but it’s very plain to see
The more I look the more I stare
It will still be space to me.
They fill your head with theories
of how it all began
Show another TV series
on the origin of man.
If you are wise you’ll take my tip
and let them go on guessing
when you leave this kip on any old ship
you will truly find your blessing.
Good one Jem
They are always good Impressive
