Replacing the battery in my Nissan key fob had me looking up “how to” on the interweb. I had done this many many years ago but forgotten. So mine is a 3 button fob and requires the “hidden” key inside to be removed. This only needed pulling out. The awkward bit is inserting a small screwdriver into a tiny slot to crack open the key fob in half. Once done there is the battery a CR 2032 button battery inside. Just remove it and note which way up it goes, remove the safety sticker on the battery and insert into the fob and close.
I did mine as the fob stopped working remotely . I know it had to have a battery within it somwhere, but made me think on how to get to it.
I have taken to carrying a 2011 battery (I think that is right) in my glove box because the car is ten years old and I have never changed the key battery. These keys are all much of a muchness just prise them apart and the battery is easy to change.
The 20 on the battery classification refers to the diameter of the battery 20mm, and the 11 or 32 refers to the thickness of the battery…So 32 becomes 3.2mm and 11 becomes 1.1mm …I know you will know that Bruce, but it was for the benefit of anyone who doesn’t…
So my question is Bruce, do you know the battery in your fob is 2011 ? If not, it won’t be thick enough to reach the contacts if the battery is a 2032…Just asking?
No I have the correct battery I checked before buying, as I say these keys are easy to open, definitely not a 2032 I have several of those for other devices. However I was going from memory and it might be something like a 2016 or even a 1620
What you say about the battery size is correct and also applies to the lithium batteries you find in solar lights etc. or example a 10850 is 10mm diameter and 85mm long
I hate all this techno stuff with cars and I don’t even drive …
I do remember the old manual locks and the funny little triangular front side windows that you could lever open with a small nail file.
I’m even considering buying one of those cars Morty…a lock that takes a key, a triangular window for tossing your fag ends out, and definitely no bloody computer telling me what to do…
