Recovered from a skip

I was at my sons house yesterday as we had to be there for a delivery. While waiting I went through the skip the builders were using and the amount of wood chucked out !!!
one piece below

hardwood rough cut 5ft long x 6inches wide and 1 inch thick

this was just one piece which I have planed down in the photo. Got to be worth a few bob if you had to buy it, let alone the amount of other planks I saved and took home

back half of the kitchen being fitted out

This was a wreck before and not even the old kitchen just an empty room

Wood is expensive now, I’m surprised they threw it away…

that is why I grabbed it. Wood is such a handy material, at the moment I don’t have a use for it but one never knows.

a philosophy that can get out of hand

its thrown out because builders use new, pass cost to customers and the cost of storage available space to store it till you find a job for it and labour cost to make recycled wood etc presentable. Youd be surprised how much waste most jobs produce
Its a good find though you should make something with it post up pics :+1:

I always ‘rescue’ old timber and keep it just in case I find a use for it. I prefer older wood as any shrinkage or twisting took place many years ago, so I know for whatever I use I find for it, it will stay the same shape without any further movement :+1:
