I’m having a look at Premium Bonds, now that the Banks are no longer paying interest.
Trouble, I find, is that people broadcast their winnings but they never say what the “return on Investment” percentage is.
After all, if you won 150 quid, on 30,000 pound investment, you had for 10 years, that’s not very good?
I have heard of Premium bonds but never had any, nor do I know anyone who has them. I don’t know how they work but it sounds like a lottery?
Last time I looked interest rate was 1.3%
According to this up-to-date information the annual prize interest rate is not that good, probably worth checking out the website though:
“The nearest thing Premium Bonds have to an interest rate is their annual prize rate, currently 1%. The interest rate describes the ‘average’ payout, but it is just a vague watermark.”
Thanks Baz, that’s just what I needed.
You are welcome Tedc.
As a matter of ‘interest’ (excuse the pun) I had around £25’s worth of Premium Bonds
some 40+ years’ ago, tucked away since then in an envelope, after a divorce and house move.
To date the winnings – not a penny!
I’m sure it’s designed to “look like” a Lottery, PK, but from what I’m reading, there is an interest rate, built in, of about 1%.
