Power drill fault cleared

I have had this mains power drill for heavens knows how long. One reason why I have not used it because squeezing the yellow trigger at one point the machine cuts out. Damn! thinks I, means buying a new power drill costing around £200 for anything half decent.

Before chucking this out like always onto the interweb to see if there were any solutions.
it was suggested the contact brushes were worn or replace that yellow trigger as there might be a short there causing it.

So that got me thinking “trigger shorting out???” erm too well built for that to be likely and it works half pressed, maybe more of a bit of contimination could be the cause.
SO I gave that trigger a good sprey of WD silicon grease , nothing ventured nothing gained. well it worked. Obviously something had got into the contacts behind the trigger.
it is a really good drill with variable speed- foreward and reverse=- drill or hammer action etc etc, so really didn’t want to part with it
