Edinburgh has banned private fireworks in several places this year, I hope a lot more follow their lead.

As a kid I loved having a box of family fireworks in our garden! Great fun, precautions were taken and I remember being safely tucked up in bed without my head blown off…

Fireworks are not for sale here but people have licensed experts visit for a private function like birthday parties. Not many around here thankfully but still too many for the dog.

My poor dog was terrified of the bangs, he shook all over and tried to hide away. I really thought he was going to have a heart attack, One night I could have coped as I’d have got stuff from the vet to make him sleep, but it went on for a couple of weeks every night, then again at New Year’s Eve. It was awful for my poor lad.

The Plymouth fireworks festival is a competition between 6 firework firms. It’s been running for some years now, fireworks let off once a year on the Plymouth breakwater. Each firm has 10 minutes of pyrotechnic time to show how good they are. It’s held over two nights, people flock to Plymouth to watch & it’s free to be there.
I don’t like the public being able to buy fireworks, they should be banned on sale in shops to the public. Sadly they aren’t here yet.
