Pineapple on pizza, yes or no

Does Pineapple have a place on your pizza. It’s a yes from me

Apparently an Italian chef has been fired for refusing to put pineapple on pizzas (well I just heard it on talksport)

Definitely a no from me!
Pineapple is for desserts! :wink::+1::pineapple:

Probably not the best option for the mistletoe season! :open_mouth:

Tom sauce base surely

Or in the case of the Italian chef who apparently lost his job, higher stakes

No!!!

What has been missed here is what else is on the pizza and the size of the pineapple pieces.Tthis could make all the difference

It is acceptable to make a dessert pizza - perhaps caramel and fuit topping or chocolate and fruit. I’ve done that in my pizza oven to round off an evening of different tomato, ham, olive, cheese toppings. But pineapple on a savoury pizza? I do not think so.

The Chinese put pineapple in sweet and sour dishes like pork or chicken for example, so why not pineapple on a pizza with other savoury toppings? :thinking:

Maybe the flavour that works is the mix of sweet along with sour. But a pizza might be spicy or salty … but not sour. That and essentially pineapple on pizza is fusion food - mixing Italian with Hawahian. I’m with the comedy Fraser on fusion food - he gave the example of coconut herring. Case closed.

A pizza can be anything you want it to be Lincolnshire, and the ‘case’ is still open for discussion :+1:
