Interesting … That house looks abandoned, it’s listed surely?
Interesting photos Spitty, the old house looks as though it may be haunted … I wonder who the car outside belongs to?
Yes its listed alright, it is now a hospitality venue, weddings etc, and as kids, when it was empty, we used to play in the grounds. Then and now, it is rumoured to be haunted by Lady Bradford.
That 's lovely Roxy
What is that building in the first pic?
Our walk today over the old Clipstone pit tip, which has been landscaped and planted over the years since the colliery closed, and is now Vicar Water Country Park.

Great photos Barry, it looks an interesting walk…
We are truly blessed for walks locally Mags. Thirty years ago there were around twenty collieries within a ten mile radius of here, all churning out filth and dust and all having their own ten or twenty acre slag heaps. Now that they are all closed and their waste tips have been landscaped and returned to nature the whole area has been completely transformed into something rather special, with public access for walking and recreation, so in the end not a bad legacy from such a dangerous, unhealthy and filthy business.
It’s amazing how they have transformed the area over the years Barry…
The same elsewhere Barry- Mankind’s mess gets returned to how it was by Mother Nature- a local gravel quarry has gradually changed into a wetland/wildlife sanctuary- helped by flood waters from a river.
Tunnel vision.

In 1972, we used to Canoe the three miles to this spot armed with shovels, and dug a plateau (now over grown) and attached a Tarzan rope from the high bow, that took us halfway across the cut.
Happy days
