Taken with a small compact Lumix camera
Tip =1
In the above photo you notice the edge of a bush on the right, this is deliberate. Why? simple, we learn to read from left to right until we have to go onto the next line. Same with the photo. The general thought is the same, we see a photo from the left so a stop, ie the bush edge on the right, denotes the end of the photo as the eye sees it. My question is I ask myself what is it like further to the right that I can’t see
Tip =2
again using the above photo the bottom of the picture also has a bush type plant. This helps add distance/depth to the photo with the trees on the other side of the pond being a backstop.
Tip-3
Only use perfectly still water for a good reflection. never mind about the top of the trees straight ahead. This leads to looking at them in the reflection.
Tip=4
try and keep a level light across the photo. Too bright at the top distracts and can ruin a photo. Too dark at the bottom and the foliage is not seen
Anyway those were my aims with this photo. After all these years it becomes automatic . Each photographer has his own ideas this are just mine.
Hope this is helpful*
