There are up to 1000 adult and juvenile pelicans on the island.
Such numbers are becoming a problem as their guano covers and degrades the local vegetation that other island occupants use for nesting and shelter.

How naughty, I wonder what that’s all about. We have the Puffin’s arriving at Dunnet Head just now, I love sitting on the rocks watching them, Soooooo busy waddling about fixing up their burrows for the coming weeks, they really are quite tame and don’t mind us being there at all. Dageus used to hate them and got very annoyed as I had to leave him in the car while I visited.
