I’ve just had one of those ‘looks’ glared at me by Mrs LD coz I have dared to fire up my small cloud dependent lappy (shez only 10") which I only fired up as all of my visiting family are either using their tablets or smartphones.
Are any of you expected to forego a ‘device’ while all around you are playing with theirs?
I cook for most of the year, but when we have family visiting, one of our four daughters has the run of the kitchen and I keep out of it. I keep telling my wife size doesn’t matter and she simply replies that its a good job she has small hands LMAO
As luck would have it, Mrs Dex overslept and thus missed going to church. This also meant that I had to go and pick MIL Grandma Dex up from her retirement flat since she’d be waiting in the foyer and thus not within earshot of her phone, and bring her chez nous.
This meant that I wouldn’t have the house to myself for a couple of hours as per normal, but instead had to do the chores with the ladies around. This level of activity shocked them, as they had no idea how much actually takes place when they’re not around.
Which is all a bit of a long winded way of explaining the backstory to my reply to your question. They were fine for me to go on my phone during the TV service they felt obliged to watch as a replacement for the real thing, and the several phone calls they’ve had from members of the congregation explaining that they hadn’t missed much has released extra online time to me. Finally, Mrs Dex has now taken over the kitchen duties, thus banishing me.
Yes. The young ones watching Christmas cartoons on the tele, my wife in the kitchen feigning tending the “cooking” but actually on her i-phone and here I sit (sat) at the computer getting “the look”.
I detest it when we are all together, no need to be pluttering around on phones/tablets. You join in with the conversation. My girlfriends and I meet up once a month for a Pub Lunch and Catch Up. The rule is no phones, they go into the middle of the table and if anyone dares to pick hers up…then she foots the lunch bill for us all.
Any visitors and my lappy stays in the drawer. However, I do have a squint at it over breakfast with the excuse that I’m observing what is going on in the world since my last online visit. Today Mrs Fox is fast asleep in the chair beside me, supposedly watching ‘Sense and Sensibillity’ Bless! So I’ve taken the opportunity to look in to the forum.
It’s a pity the family don’t offer us the same consideration when they visited yesterday, but in fairness to my daughter, she does occasionally come out with “Dad! have you seen this” while she scrolls through twitter feed…
