These are chosen as they are most likely to bring up the strongest emotional memories of those decades. But in reality “favourites” would be a long list. There is just so much good stuff through every decade. We have been blessed with an explosion of musical talent & innovation in the last 50 years. (just got back from a music festival!)
I haven’t named one from the 90s yet. It was a great decade, and some of my faves were:
Supergrass, Stone Roses, Suede, Oasis, The Verve. And from across the water REM, Nirvana.

80’s - AC/DC, Fleetwood Mac, as above, U2, Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, The Cure, Iron Maiden, Motorhead. So many one hit wonders too.
90’s Nightwish, as above, AC/DC, Disturbed, RadioHead, Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins, many more.
2000’s Rock, Metal, Rammstein, Oh seriously is its good I listen lol
