I recently bought an omelette maker after thinking they were an unnecessary gadget. So quick, and easy. So tonight instead of having endless out of date stuff, will be using up bits and pieces from the fridge, ham, parmesan, mushrooms, tomatoes, eggs etc.
Never thought I’d get excited about egg recipes, but would thoroughly recommend getting one.
I can’t eat them, but I make a “scromlette” for Mr P. Its a cross between scrambled eggs and omelette. Because I can’t make an omelette to save my life and just end up bunging everything in the cooking eggs and mixing it up. Still tastes good though.
Me neither Pixie. It starts off looking good but turns into a shredded mess by the time it reaches the plate. It usually tastes okay though as you say.
We have an omelette maker in a cupboard in the kitchen alongside a toastie maker and a panini press, all Aldi specials. We used it once and the result was okay but it seems quicker in a frying pan. I will need to look for the instructions and give it another try.
I agree, Barry. So easy to toss in bit of leftover peppers, shrooms, onions and broccoli, makes for a quick yet delicious meal with a slice of toasted bread.
I hate it when appliances stay in the cupboard gathering dust. It’s why I don’t have things like smoothie makers, because they’re a faff to disassemble and clean.
The last gadget that I really haven’t used is a spiraliser as thought courgette noodles would be a great thing. I’m going to actually try using it now, you reminded me.
I think because I haven’t much kitchen space I forgot about it on top of the fridge.
Going to buy some standalone shelves and keep those type of items where I can see in future.
I am a bit iffy about omelettes,I have to be i the mood for one . When I was a little girl about 8 my big sister Beth took me out for a meal to a big hotel in Derby and with eager anticipation I ordered a mushroom omelette.
As someone who has loathed eating chicken since I was 4yo imagine my horror when my omelette arrived filled with chicken They took it away but the exciting moment of my first grown up meal out was gone
I agree. Chicken omelette just seems wrong. When we were in France a few years ago, we stopped at a supermarket to pick up some lunch. They had baguettes filled with sliced chicken, salad and hard boiled egg . Chicken and egg together? So wrong
I make omelettes in a pan, they’re so easy. If I want them fluffy I separate the white and yolk first, whisk the white and then gently fold in the yolks along with half an eggshell of water for each egg used. My kids used to love them when they were little and often put in a request for ‘fluffy egg please’ ;-).
I wouldn’t be averse to trying an omelette maker, but I just don’t want to give up any more cupboard space to yet another gadget
