Old TV programmes

While sorting through some things the other day I came across some DVDs I haven’t watched for ages, amongst them were the series Waking the Dead. I started watching and forgot just how good programmes used to be (although I had forgotten how much shouting Trevor Eve did in that programme!). I also found DVDs of the complete series of Lewis and Foyles War.

Does anyone else watch old shows and wish TV companies would go back to producing quality programmes instead of cooking, property, game shows and the awful “reality” programmes

I love old TV programmes to bits…

As for going back to producing quality programmes I won’t be holding my breath!

I was doing a search for a decent programme on ITVx and found the whole set of the series of Morse which I am really enjoying. It’s so old that the picture is smaller than my TV screen!

Back in the day…

I used to watch this for hours!

I used to have about 2 hours of the test card recorded (VHS), Used it for colour convergence and picture sizing/centring. Box television rather than box set. I only have one box set and that is Game Of Thrones. I have watched that a couple of times.

I have loads of box sets, but I have converted them to mp4 files and keep them on my hard drive as its easier to manage them, which is connected to a media player on my TV.

Those were the days when you could always find something of interest to watch.
It’s all a load of tosh now with celebrities I’ve ever never heard of.

@Besoeker * chuckle chuckle* … you’ll tell me next they hadn’t invented electwicity.

Me and the wife used to complain about too much sex on the tv, thank goodness our bed didn’t take long to arrive…

It was OK until flat screen TVs came along.

No - that was me !!
