Not A Newbie, Here!

I used to have a different username (surname) here, but I got sick of GMX EMail services with their eternal bugs on logging into E Mail accounts and I thought I’d come along and start fresh, with a different surname.

So, hello to everybody!

Hi IanMcK and welcome. You sound like a Scot…

Just like my old “Haines”…“McKlatchie” is a fake surname. “Mc” is mostly Irish. “Mac” is mostly Scottish. So, I’m just another Merseysider, from the Wirral, really - I wish I did have a Celtic background, though.

Ah, The Wirral. I know it well. I’m a Scot from Kirriemuir but then I moved to the south of England most of the time the retired to Yorkshire.

Welcome again Ian.
The Wirral? That’s the posh part of Merseyside isn’t it? :grinning:

A cousin of mine once did a family tree - it took her 5 years to complete it. And, it turns out that I am an Emmerdaler! Yes! My great (or great, great) grandfather was born in a farmhouse in Yorkshire that is now a holiday cottage. So, we have something in common, in a way.

It’s supposed to be the posh part of Merseyside, but it’s really not. People, here, still peg out their teabags on a washing line, dry them, then use them again. So, it’s safe to say that it’s really not posh, here!

Thanks for the tip.I’ll try that. :grinning:

Hi Ian, welcome to the club. Further to the south, in German speaking countries, your fake surname would probably make people smile since it sounds very much like a word they use which means bonkers. I know you won’t go there anyway. Have a good time here.

Oh, make no mistake about it…I am one flat rock short of my full pavement! If I were any saner, I’d be insane! Glad to be back!

Hi again Mr IanMc, just of interest what was your job before you retired ?

The last time I worked, the UK had £1 notes - it was back in the 1970s. I simply worked in shops, selling things! My first wage packet was £9.53. I didn’t let it go to my head, though.

Ah, you are a youngster ! I think I got about £6 while I was working and the other part when I was at college/university. Electrical engineering was my field.

Welcome back Ian.
