NO...what I meant to say/write was

The idea of this Thread come about from an amusing post by Maree.

How many times have we said, or written something that’s come out wrong…. Or a typo that leaves you embarrassed, apologising trying to explain what you meant to say/write

We use maintenance contractors……The lady who contacts and pays often by Bank transfer is Babs

A few times contractors have phoned me apologising, blaming predictive text

They text Babs thanking her for sending their payment over…Their texts are short and sweet and read

“ Thank you Babe “ “ You’re the best Babe “ “ I owe you one Babe “

Me, I told a decorator not to paint the doors in flat that was being refurbished… end of the day every door was painted, why….he thought I said paint the doors

Hi marciniak

Yep I’ve encountered quite a few of those ‘lost in translation’ moments.

I forget how many times I’ve sent out emauls without double checking the spelling first. :man_facepalming:.

One that I have posted before on predictive text:
Brothel Dump Site
Should have been:
Borehole Pump Set.

Yes, but looking at both, they do seem to share a common theme if you catch my drift :astonished:–>:grin:

Yes indeed. But it was in a formal bid. I knew the customer’s project engineer and he would have enjoyed the gaffe but it might not have cut custard with his directors…

custard or the mustard?

Either way. Anyway we were awarded the project. Gaffes or otherwise…

Predictive texting can be a nightmare but quite funny

I’m a bit lazy and often type fast and click without checking

On another forum we were talking about “swear filters” and I typed “sweat filters” and some cheeky so-and-so asked me if that’s what Prince Andrew uses!

My daughter and I were texting during the very first lockdown, and I was off work and so was she. We were chatting about how great it was to be off, and how our respective pets were enjoying having us home full time.

“And so are my pants” she said

“what?!!!” I replied,

"PLANTS, mum, I meant PLANTS!!"

That clip reminds of a joke about three old ladies having walk along the sea front

First old Lady “ Oh isn’t it windy “

Second Lady “ No it’s Thursday “

Third lady “ so am I, let’s have a cup tea “

What I hate is when you say something simple. To you, you couldn’t have been more clear and the other person or persons, just don’t get it. It’s at times like this I wonder if I accidentally lapsed and started speaking Chinese, oh wait I don’t know Chinese.
But my bane is talk to type. I can’t tell how many times I’ve yelled, “How the fu*k did you get that from what I said!” “It’s not even close!” “If I heard me say that there is no way you couldn’t!” Needless to say either my smart machine has a learning disability or is just plain deaf. The only other explanation is the computer is doing it on purpose, to have a laugh. I think it’s the latter. :exploding_head: :exploding_head: :exploding_head: :exploding_head:

I occassionally have this problem with some of my American friends on the phone …accents and what I refer to as slurring one word into the next. They can understand me perfectly, but some cant even understand each other :man_shrugging:

Misunderstood and Misheard I’m sure most have experienced such situations, me yesterday was given an email address which I wrote down peterbravojones, had to phone him back as I couldn’t email him, gave him my email… he contacted me, his email being peterBjones…so why not say B instead of the using Bravo (phonetic) And it were that everyone thought were daft.

Accents, and call centres (((((((ARGHHHH))))))
