Nextdoor uk seems genuine but have doubts

I opted out of that, too. :slightly_smiling_face:

I don’t avoid FB. I am on it all the time, with all my family on there, ex neighbours and colleagues, and friends from other places. I do think of staying away at times, but would miss a lot of people. People I would have trouble reconnecting with.

Hi

I think I need to clarify my post.

I use Facebook Marketplace to buy and sell.

Only been let down once and no horror stories.

I am a member of Marine and Tropical Fish Groups, which again I use solely to buy and sell.

All good for me, but the groups are toxic about which shop is best, who knows what etc.

I use Nextdoor for general stuff.

After 6 heart attacks and Heart Failure, there are things I can no longer do.

I put an ad up, just for one job, moving some compost and gravel.

A reply from an elderly lady on my road, grandkids, brother and sister are students and wanting to earn money.

Absolutely lovely, the pair of them, did a great job, cheap but happy.

I use them for all sorts of stuff now, totally trustworthy.

Just my experience of things, others may have had different experiences.

I never go on facebook these days, in fact I don’t even have an account. I spent some time on it a few years ago but found it very high maintenance. I do ā€˜get it’ why people would use and enjoy it, but I have no family who I am in constant contact with, and email keeps me in touch on the rare occasion that we need to communicate. Most of my work colleagues or running club friends have either passed away, moved away, aren’t computer literate, or we have simply lost touch. Many a good conversation and catch up has been had down the hallowed isles of the local Tesco.

The only regular friends I have these days are on the forum or live in the village, and I prefer a face to face visit with the local ones. All my computer time is spent mainly on the forum or more rarely on twitter. You members are the closest I want to become to anyone on t’internet.
Nextdoor email me about local excitement (robberies, missing pets, council matters and any suspicious goings on) but I’ve never even posted on the site, this forum gets 100% of the time I allow myself to delve into the seedy world of cyberspace. You lucky people!

The Full Electoral Register has restricted access and can only be accessed and used for specific authorised purposes.

For some years now, there has been an edited electoral roll, called the Open Register, which is the one that the public can buy access to.
You can choose to ā€œopt outā€ of appearing on the ā€œOpen Registerā€

We always ā€œopt outā€.

As for Nextdoor, V is a member of our local ā€œlodgeā€ She has found it very useful for local news, finding names of contractors, etc.

Same here, Percy. Have done for years.
