Sorry to hear of the problems with your new phone Swimmy.
Until I read your post I’d never heard of ‘Doogee’ so I went ant looked them up.
They look like a really rugged army issue phone, with an awesome memory and battery life.
I would imagine it’s perfect for you and I can understand why your phone is so important to you with limited mobility, and being able to control things from your bed/armchair.
Personally, I’m fed up to the back molars with anything that has smart in it’s title. My telly is a ‘smart telly’ and although it’s not connected to the internet, it has many things that annoy me.
My kitchen telly is a 19" common or garden telly and it receives all the channels without needing to be retuned every time it’s turned on, and no silly cursor floating about the screen while studying the guide…
My smartphone is a ‘Samsung’ and as you probably know, it’s handy to have the NHS app. It also is a fast and fiddle free way of accessing my bank account, Tesco account, and I was ordered to download ‘What’s App’ by my daughter and grand daughter…
The camera comes in useful occasionally, but it’s not half as good as my ‘Canon SX620’ which hasn’t got a mind of it’s own and decide to alter the settings when it feels like it…
It does loads of other stuff, none of which I need while out walking or taking public transport.
So I’ve stuck a cheap sim card in my old clamshell phone and just take that with me instead.
My old easy to understand and use clamshell…
They’re the best ones … the old one with buttons to press and no swiping.
My kindle is bad enough. It just does what it wants. All this tapping and swiping is a pain.
I happen to have a Doogee tablet with WIFI only. The specs sounded promising and I haven’t had any problems so far.
I bought another Samsung smartphone hoping that it doesn’t “phone home” like I suspect a Doogee does.
The reason a wanted a Doogee is that they last a long time without needing charging, essential if you are stuck on a trolly in a hospital corridor with nowhere to charge it and no call bell.
A tip if you need to go into hospital, get a 2m long charger cable with different ends, for a mobile, tablet, shaver etc, charger points are often a long way from the bed.
